McClain Cellars — Restaurant in Solvang

This winery has been absolutely amazing along with the service. I would leave more stars if I could. For context, I am very picky about wine but every wine I have tasted here today was amazing. Tanner was absolutely phenomenal and 1000% deserves a raise he is incredibly passionate about the business and is a well of knowledge about everything he introduces to and about the neighborhood which for tourists it's very valuable. Met him out and about and we just so happened to get wrapped into a conversation about wine and he swept us away with his passion and knowledge towards wine and most importantly his pride towards where he works that got us waking up excited to come and visit the next day and I'm very pleased to say he was not lying when saying "we got the best wine in town". PLEASE COME AND VISIT THIS WINERY the workers are so incredibly friendly and the love with what they do is noticeable. ASK FOR TANNER and you won't be wronged! He was phenomenal! He listens to preferences and makes great recommendations based off that. Again, I'm very picky but, I had so much fun and every wine I tasted was great! We sampled their extensive and very varied wineflight menu which came in very informative and well themed sets.

Our server Allie was very attentive, informative and helpful all throughout our visit last Jume 2024. Highly commemdable.

Layout was a bit problematic as indoor seating had live music which made it difficult to have a conversation while the outdoir patio was along a very busy sidewalk and was the major road for motorists. Wouldn't recommend the patio during peak hours of the tourist season or peak commute hours.

Great selection of wines and service but the location and set up made it hard to fully enjoy the experience if you want to concentrate on the wine.

** Added note: Just got reminded that there is a sectioned inner courtyard area part of the shared complex for a more intimate and less obtrusive spot to enjoy the wine experience, but often limited to only one to two groups. Unfortunately, as members of McClain Cellars and have been for a while and also as being members to pay a pretty good penny for the bottles. Spontaneously we decided to come by the Solvang place to enjoy some wine even though we still pay for the tasting. The POURS were ridiculous!! Two sips and I didn't even enjoy it.. In the past we've came here and we used to get a bit more, enough to sit there and enjoy. We've been members with others here in Solvang and we've never had a treatment like this. Me and my sister are Latinas and we came in first, the lady told us we were going to get menus, not once did we get them until my husband who is white came in, then thats when they came out with menus. My husband's POURS were pretty good but mine and my sister were not. For the amount we were getting, by the time we were done we pretty much were getting a half glass for $40.00. I've notice a lot of white couples come here and I was paying attention and they got a good POUR in their glass. As of today, I will be canceling my membership. This makes me feel discriminated. I'll go back to the other wine tasting places that have never made us...
