Dascomb Cellars — Attraction in Solvang

Anne-Marie and her husband (?) gave us great service even though only 2 of us (out of 4) wine tasted. They understood that some of us were exhausted from wine tasting all day long...plus my asian glow probably gave it away.

We showed up 45 minutes before it closed and were lucky enough to snag 2 couches where it had the "reserved" sign. Both checked up on us often even when the room started to get crowded.

:: WINE :: I don't know too much about wine but I do remember enjoying their reds. Especially the one with a side of raspberry chocolate.

:: CHEESE :: We almost got the first one on the list which mentioned "ice-cream-like" texture...but we decided not to get it because we remembered that we had dinner reservation right after this. We did get to sample a few cheese :) The mouse logo is SO CUTE!

PRO: they stay open a little longer than the other wine bars in solvang gourmet cheese great service COMFY COUCHES, the ambience reminded me of my favorite hole-in-the-wall wine lounge in Torrance. they...

Dascomb Cellars is a very nice local winery that sources from their own small vineyard as well as surrounding vineyards in the area. The tasting room offers the best and most informative tastings you will find in the area. Popular wines here include their Sangiovese, an excellent, crisp Chardonnay and a rather unique Port among several others. There are a number of varieties that are either unique to this wine maker or are rarely seen elsewhere. Tastings are $20 per person. Buy a couple bottles (or a membership...) and you will delete the cost of a tasting 😉 A nice place to visit...

Another tasting room I randomly picked which I'd never tried before. Nice venue, comfortable seats and lots of room whether you want to sit inside or out. I must as that as a woodworker their bar is beautiful, made from sanded wine barrel staves making it look almost basket-like. The wine was very good, although since I have a sweet tooth what really made it for me was the port, which was delicious (and which sorry, I didn't really get a pic of until it was nearly gone) and comes with chocolate to really...
