(Ignore the other negative review about them not accepting cash. They will accept cash however they are not setup to do that just yet. The place is brand new! cut them some slack...their working on it. (Who doesn't have a credit card on hand or available via tapping with your phone... honestly.). So, for the moment its cards only. Not only that I personally spoke with the owners about that very situation and they told me that they would have rather seen you get the food for free then letting it go to waste and losing a potential customer because of a petty payment issue.)
Now for my opinion. Cause I was there shortly before this person and their negative review, and my experience was completely different.
First off, thank you to the Owners for taking the risk and opening a much-needed restaurant to fill the BBQ void we have in the valley. They have poured their time, blood sweat and tears, and a lot of investment to make this place successful. It shows.
This was the old sizzler location which looked and felt like it was from the 80's. This venues remodel into a BBQ restaurant is beautiful clean and fresh. You can walk in and see the huge smokers outside doing their business. No corners were cut in building this place out and it shows. The mural on the wall was also a standout for me. Seating was plentiful and able to handle large family's or groups if needed.
The food is good. When they took out the smoked turkey I was amassed at how it looked. It was smoked, had great color and was juicy as they sliced it. I regret not taking a photo because it clearly was a kodak moment for me and told me how the rest of my experience would be.
Staff was friendly and great, and they have it designed so you're not waiting in line long as there are separate stations for staff to be able to prepare and cut your order. Meats will be cut in front of you so you can clearly see what you're getting.
Pricing is fair for the quality of the food you're getting. It's all freshly made in house. Taste great with good flavor. The in-house BBQ sauce is a great all arounder which goes well on pretty much everything. (I would even purchase a bottle to take home once that becomes an option)
I had the opportunity to sit and meet with the owners and offer my perspective on my experience. They are extremely open to feedback. It is extremely apparent they want you to come in and have a great meal. When you hit the register, your time will never be wasted by them asking if you want to leave a tip. (They reached out to their payment processor and mandated that function was disabled.) You don't need to leave a tip because they want to take care of their staff and their customers and give you a quality meal in a nice clean venue that will make you say yes, I want to come back.
Little things like that are what earns my loyalty as a customer.
This place is brand new. This is not a chain restaurant. Yes, there making some mistakes. Because in some ways its new to them as it is to us, but they are learning and fixing them. They have the right attitude, the right location and the right food. Hell, I drove all the way down from west valley just to try them out. Guess what? I'll be making that trip again.
So welcome Kenny J's BBQ to the valley. I for one am glad you here and look forward to you guys being around for...
Read more“You take your man’s to Kenny J’s ONE TIME and he turns into a southern gentleman.🤠” -Me to my husband. But for reals… my husband was so chivalrous after we ate here for dinner last night. Opened the doors for me, got to-go containers, put all the leftover food away nicely and carried our left overs to the car and when I said the above sentence to him last night, he LOST IT and started cracking up laughing!😂 We went by the other day and they were slammed so we came back and scored on a Monday when they weren’t too busy, but they deserve to be busy cause the food slaps! The two guys that greeted us and helped us were amazing, patient and friendly. We tried almost every meat option available except the pork spare ribs and the turkey thighs (that will be for next time) plus 4 sides (1 was gifted to us) and shared it between the two of us plus had left overs for late night and/or next day munchies. We tried a little bit of each side of the brisket, the traditional fatty side that typically adds more flavor and the leaner cuts and we actually loved the leaner cuts of brisket more cause they were equally as flavorful just not as greasy, 10/10. The turkey breast was tender, good Smokey flavor and not dried out, 10/10. The pulled pork was a top contender, slutty, super flavorful with some burnt pieces, dare I say an 11/10?🤤 and lastly, we got the hatch green chile with cheddar sausage and it was good but I like my sausage to have a little bit of a burnt crisp on it and this one did not. It was good in flavor but I think that flavor would’ve popped 💥 a bit more if it were cooked well done. It’s something I’d get again but take home to crisp up for breakfast or to throw in a breakfast burrito so I give it an 7/10. I know this review is soooo long BUT Y’ALL NEED TO KNOW ALL THE DEETS. We got one small sides of Mac-N-Cheese 10/10, funeral potatoes 8/10, and green beans 7/10, for our sides. They were all delicious! Our favorite was the Mac n cheese! BUT we were gifted a side of the creamed corned cause the house mama of Kenny J’s insisted cause it was one of her underrated pride n joys and guess what, SHE.👏🏽WAS.👏🏽RIGHT.👏🏽 10/10. If you’ve ever watched ‘Jackass’ growing up, that’s my first thought when I think of creamed corned - mashed up blended up corn with a milky base and it’s just… not it. BUT THIS CREAMED CORN was nothing like that. It was so flavorful and so delicious, it caught us by surprise. We will definitely be getting it everytime we go. So get the damn CORN. Loved their sauces, we had two out of the four that we tried that we loved the most and don’t even know which one was which but that’s alright, we’ll figure it out again. Didn’t try any of the desserts cause we lacked room in our bellys but we have a game plan for the next visit. If you like Texas BBQ, you’ll appreciate this place. My only suggestion is a jalapeño honey mustard sauce and a jalapeño ranch. I’d even pay extra for that shiiii cause if you’ve ever been to Babe’s or Chuy’s in Texas then you know what’s up with those sauces and we are professional dippers. Spacious, clean and organized, it was a great experience from beginning to end. We paid around $80 and that also included two drinks. Worth every penny. GET...

Everything was very good. The highlights were their delicious, fine, high quality smoked meat.
Potato salad was excellent. They seasoned it perfectly, the right consistency-texture. Not too vinegary-too salty or lack flavors. Kenny J's potato salad was above the rest.
Kenny J BBQ was on par. Everything on my plate was perfect.
Don’t forget to try their out of the world slightly sweet buttery, creamy corn. A winner.
