I went to LongHorn for the first time 4 years ago and it was a quiet nice place to eat. This time it is like they are trying to be Texas Road House except they are charging a lot more, the music was so loud that it caused me to get a headache. I only went to LongHorn because the previous times I had gone the restaurant had a nice quiet relaxing ambiance. Making matters worse my filet came out with so much black pepper on it that it burned my mouth and throat, like a jalapeno pepper and did not have the butter basting on it. My wife also got a filet and upon trying hers, I realized it shouldn't be spicy it should have been buttery smooth. The waiter offered to get me a new steak and I took him up on it. Upon getting the new steak I pressed my finger on the new steak and it had that under cooked feel, so when you push it does not bounce back. I cut into the steak and sure enough the steak was dang near raw, it may have been cooked for 2 minutes on each side the center was cold and that purple/blue/red raw color of beef, I had ordered it cooked medium-rare, which should be a warm red center. When I told the waiter he offered to go cook it longer at that point my wife had been done for 5 minutes and my head started to hurt from the loud music. As I know that the steak would have ended up in a microwave and I had cut the steak into a few chunks hoping one end or the other would be cooked meaning if the cooked it more in a pan all the juices would have come out of it.
On top of the major issues with my steak the waiter was not good. Often had empty water cups and we were not drinking anything but water, I asked him for thing and he would forget to do them and forget all together, and he never checked in on how things were when we had issues I had to flag him down after he finished with a nearby table. One time I wanted more dressing, I sat with my salad untouched for 5 minutes when I finally got his attention after he finished at another table, I requested extra dressing. 5 minutes passed and he managed to deliver drinks to the table nearby and never came by, I tried to get his attention and failed. So I gave up and poured the remaining ranch from my wife's salad on to my Caesar salad, it wasn't the best but it was better than dry lettuce. When the waiter brought our steaks he said "I know I was supposed to bring you something but I forgot what it was". I told him it was salad dressing for my salad, the waiter then had the nerve to say "I can go get it", right below where he stood, on the table was my empty salad bowl.
The WORST part of the meal was the fact that when the manager came up he said "I am sorry that the meal was not to your standard", which came across like if you were not so picky you could have enjoyed your meal. The manager took off the bad steak which was great as I only got half a loaded baked potato and a shitty salad. The manager offered to take care of the bill and I refused as the one meal was fine and the food was eaten and I was not looking for a free meal. The manager asked me to give them another chance so "they could meet my standards". I responded I would not be coming back and he pushed say he would leave some coupons for 2 - $10 off and a free appetizer. I took the coupons and gave them to a guy and his sons that were outside the restaurant waiting...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I both love Longhorn. Our last experience, however, was extremely disappointing. We both work customer service so hate being the customers to get worked up, and throughout our entire time there made sure to speak kindly and be patient. We arrived the the South Jordan location around 9:30, and it was just to two of us so we knew we had time to eat before they closed at 11. Our server Melissa came and took our order. We informed her we would later want to be ordering dessert as well. Bread has always been served first thing when we get seasted, but not this time. We waited to see if they would being it later. Our drinks were brought out, still no bread. So I asked the waitress who brought our drinks out if they still served the bread, and she kindly said yes then brought it out. When we opened our utensils, our forks still had food on them. They were clearly not washed (not washed well at least). We asked for new forks and again, our waitress kindly brought us new ones. I ordered my salad without cheese, but when it was brought out it had cheese. I decided it wasn't a big enough deal to bring to our server's attention, so I ate it anyways. Our food took a while to bring out and once it was it was extremely disappointing. The fries tasted extremely old and only stayed warm for a few short minutes. A third of my steak was just fat, and the flavor on both mine and my boyfriend's steaks had mediocre flavor. I've had this exact steak multiple times before, but there was always more than a few bites of actual meat. We asked our waitress if it was normal to have that much fat, and also asked about the fries tasting very old. She seemed a bit irritated but said she would go ask her boss about it. Once again we thanked her and reminded her we would like to order dessert. After waiting about 20 minutes, our waitress came to see if her boss had come to talk to us yet. We told her she hadn't been by, and the waitress informed us her boss was busy with paperwork so she would remind her we were waiting. (What happened to customers first?) After another 15 or 20 minutes, our waitress finally comes back with our check and said her boss gave us 25% off our check. For the food, we shouldn't have even paid that much. But we thanked her then asked if we could now order dessert. (We would have been out of there by now had they not taken so long to help us out). There was a fee minutes until they closed. She looked at the door, sighed, rolled her eyes then looked at us and said "what do you want?" in a very irritated voice. We didn't feel like we should give our business to someone who was rude especially after telling her 3 times we wanted dessert. We said nevermind, she said okay. We got our check, paid, and once again she took and EXTREMELY long time to bring our card back to us. In short, the food was gross and not worth our money, the MOD couldn't take the time to come talk to us, we waited a ridiculous amount of time for our service, and our waitress was unkind and made us feel very unwelcome and rushed so we didn't get to order...
Read moreWe were celebrating 4 of our family members birthdays and visited the South Jordan location. Midvale is usually our favorite but South Jordan is closer to us and figured we’d give it a try. We had a party of 7 and were very surprised that we were seated right away with no waiting, however the table with chairs was a bit small for the 7 of us and server mentioned no other tables were available, so we made it work. We hadn’t even sat down when asked what we wanted to drink, we advised we needed some time to look over the menu. The server returned, took our drink order and appetizers. We waited an extremely long time for the drinks to arrive and be able to place our order, the restaurant was unusually not full and really no reason why things should have taken that long. Once drinks arrived, we placed our orders and waited- the passion fruit margarita had too many seeds, particles in it that I couldn’t drink it and had to send it back, I ordered an iced tea instead. We waited for a very very long time for salads to arrive and even longer for the food. Once food did arrive we asked for condiments and co to yes to wait, after asking and reminding the sever at least three times and at least 15 minutes later, condiments finally arrived and we had to send back medium rare steaks to be cooked a tad bit longer. When advising the server that the steak was rare, she asked for another person appetizer plate, that was dirty, to place the steak on the plate to return to kitchen and cook longer. I add used her that the plate was not a clean plate, she ignored and placed the steak on it anyway! Another person in our party was unable to eat their steak due to extreme pepper seasoning which made it hard to eat! We refused to send it back because we were clearly into this restaurant experience close to 2 hours! We couldn’t wait to finish up and leave, we had to ask three different servers for items, to go boxes and our check! The server finally came to the table and apologized for the wait as she was strapped! (Again, restaurant was not busy) This entire experience was horrible! I regretted taking out our adult kids and spouses, to celebrate their birthdays and mine. Our total Bull was $290 - with a suggested tip amount of $50, which was $50 too much! I left a smaller tip than I normally do, only because I felt horrible not leaving a tip at all! I should have contacted the manager while we were there, however we were all frustrated and just wanted to get out and go home as fast as we could! If we decide to return to Longhorn, it will definitely be the Midvale location. Hopefully South Jordan will do better and take care of their customers In a timely manner and hire staff that is experienced in taking...
