Gunbarrel Tavern & Eatery — Restaurant in South Lake Tahoe

Food and service were terrible! My boyfriend and I were immediately sat (now we know why because every other restaurant was atleast an hour long wait) and was told our server will be with us shortly. After about a 10 minute wait our waitress Ashley asked us for our drink orders. It took about 10 more minutes for her to give us our drinks (which by the way was a soda and an iced tea) and take our order. After taking our order, the food came out pretty quick. My boyfriend ordered the chicken sandwich w/ Mac and cheese and I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. Per my boyfriend, the chicken on the sandwich was extremely dry, and the bacon was rock hard and the fatty part looked like a Chicharron.... For my order, the pulled pork sandwich I took one bite out of it, and it was extremely cold and tasted sour. My boyfriend and I both decided that we would like my sandwich removed from our bill since it was $18 and I didn't eat any of it. During this time our waitress, Ashley did not check in on us once to see if we liked our food or needed anything else. After about 20 minutes of waiting for the bill the hostess (and maybe runner as she gave us our food not Ashley) grabbed our plates and asked me if I would like a box for my food during this time Ashley was getting our bill together. I had explained to the hostess/runner that my food had came out cold and I did not enjoy it so I would like it taken off the bill. She said oh okay let me go and find your server. She then went to the direction that Ashley was in and I would assume informed her that we had an issue with the food 10 seconds later. Ashley gave us a bill and walked away. That bill did not have the pulled pork sandwich taken off after we had requested. We then sat for another 10 to 15 minutes for another server to ask us if I would like a box for the sandwich I repeated what I said to the hostess/runner and was told again that he will go ahead and find my server. Ashley from my assumption was nowhere to be found (as she was nowhere to be found our entire time there) so the man had to go and asked the bartender for help. The bartender very nicely and professionally asked what was wrong. I explained that the food came out cold. I took one bite out of it and I would like it taken off and that this is the third time I've had to ask somebody to take it off. She said OK no problem was very nice about it and even offered a comp meal which I declined . During my conversation with the very nice bartender... Ashley had came up to listen the conversation . The bartender then handed the bill to Ashley and walked away. While Ashley was walking away to go fix our bill, she said "Typically if you want something removed you ask before the bill comes out" to which I said "Well I would have if you had checked in on us". Never in my life have I received such terrible service and disrespect while at a restaurant. This clearly isn't the first time she's had an issue with her attitude as there has been another comment about how she was rude to another customer a few months prior to our interaction. To me this shows that the owner/manager of this establishment does not care about his business nor care about the treatment his staff gives to his customers. I would like to state that they were not shortstaffed as there was multiple servers. As someone who has worked in the food service industry and has multiple friends and family members that have as well never in my life would I ever treat a customer this way even on the most busiest day..... I don't think waitressing is for her.... Maybe she should go work at the DMV I think her personality would...

This is my first review for this place that I've been to dozens of times. Its just a really awesome spot located smack dab in the middle of heavenly. Usually have live music on the weekends with an out door lounge that has 3 fire pits they turn on around the evening time and a stand to serve drinks for those not seated inside by the bar.

On this visit it was me, a female companion and my best friend ever (he's a dog) I love the Lemon Garlic Salmon dish they have, it is absolutely delicious, I did not get that this time around as I wanted to try something different. ( my female companion did get it and she loved it too)

This time around I decided to try the 3 fish Taco's, the fish being Mahi-Mahi. I'm going to be honest with you guys, I've always steered clear of fish Taco's because I never liked the idea.

Boy, I'm glad I'd decided to open my mind. These Taco's were off the chain! Like I don't think I can ever not try fish Taco's now. They had guacamole on them and were served with Chips and other lil additives which I can't name because I don't know them.

So, onto my main course, of course, DRINKS!!!!

First up I had a;

Banana Caiprhanha.

Strong rum based drinks, I forgot to stir it but once I did the strength kicked down a notch. It wasn't as sweet as I'd had hope it to be but still a delicious drink none the less.

Next up I had a;

Fast Passion Magarita.

Also strong, infact, all three drinks I ordered this day came out strong af. Margarita's are safeties for me. Can't go wrong with a well made Margarita and this one was no exception.

Lastly I had a;

Cucumber Dream.

Quite possibly my favorite of the three drinks. Smooth and crisp. Refreshing as hell to drink. I usually don't drink Gin but reading what this drink had included just sounded like I had to try.

Services was fast, we gave our number to be notified when a table would be ready and we're told it'd be 30 minutes but in reality it was hardly even 15 minutes.

The hostesses were very cute girls with welcoming smiles and of course my furry companion got the attention.

Our server was a very handsome man who saw right through me and knew I'd been here before and gave me off menu options for my drinks. He made sure to keep my drinks rolling.

Music started about 10 or 15 minutes after being seated. The weather on this day was perfect for the out door seating we preferred.

Loved this place, LOVE this place. Of course I'll be back again and...

I don't usually give 1 star review, in fact this is probably my first one star review of any company or businesses but hear me out. I visited recently with my family and decided to head to the outside bar for a alcohol beverage. Mind, this bar layout is like any others with chairs and a countertop. I assumed that you grab a empty seat and you wait to be serve so that's what I did. Bartender didn't acknowledge me, no problem maybe I was in a bad spot so I got up and stood behind a guy who was waiting to be serve standing by the corner.

The bartender goes and serve him and he leaves so I took his spot. At this point there was only 1 person ahead of me that was waiting to be serve. The bartender goes and served the person and more people came and started formed a line behind him.

I caught his attention asked him for a beer to which he turned to me and says "There's a line" and told me to get in line behind the people who just got there. Ok no problem, at this point have been waiting perhaps 8 minutes but I'm a very patient person so I got in line behind those people.

About 10 minutes later, I was the next person in line to be serve. This bartender is either racist af (I'm Asian) or a complete incompetent individual. He took forever to make to make 2 mix drink for the person in front of me. After what seemed like forever, he finally got it done only to allow another lady who knew the person ordering, to order additional drinks. Like a fool, I waited for another 5 minutes and he still isn't close to being done with their drinks. I finally got tired of waiting and left.

I waited close to 35 - 40 minutes at this bar before realizing how racist this place was and left. Why do I say this? Because the guy in front of me was white and got served but wasn't even in line. No sorry, no acknowledge from the bartender or any of the workers.

This isn't my first time here. I visited this place two years ago and got served sitting by the bar. There was no line, just a first come first serve.

Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. If you're looking for a beer, just head over to Base Camp Pizza. Those guys will treat you better and...
