ZERO stars. Stay at your own risk. I very, very seldom do a review, good or bad. This should tell you just how very, very bad our experience was. OMG.||||Oh my goodness, let me find a few positive things to say first. The towels, bed linens and shower fixtures are pretty nice. No complaints there. The bell service folks and bartenders are attentive and friendly. We did not visit the pool or fitness room. ||||Now the rest; buckle in as grandson likes to say. This will be long. First of all, things go wrong; any hotel can miss the mark on occasion. It happens and we roll with it. But this was such a total fail on so many levels it is hard to give them a pass. Many things could have been easily rectified with a little customer service and housekeeping attention to detail. ||||We enjoy casino hotels and have stayed at many. If you don’t gamble (we do) there really is no reason to stay here. Even if you do gamble, there are plenty of really nice places to stay on the main drag there, and you can walk to all the different casinos. It’s our understanding the casino went through quite an extensive renovation. It is a decent size (not Vegas huge), but it was very empty of patrons, and lacked any kind of action/excitement, day or night. No bells and whistles going off, no announcement of jackpots, Yes, slots were tight, but you know how it goes. If you like video poker, you might be disappointed in the games selection. If you like to play quarters at the poker bars, there are a very few of those machines. In fact that’s true all through Tahoe. ||||If you decide to stay at this hotel for one reason or another, I recommend you call the hotel directly rather than booking online as we did so your e sure to get want you want. The Remus Tower (where we were) is the short, old, plain looking tower closest to the street. The Romulus Tower is the new glitzy looking one. We didn’t see any of those rooms, so check reviews. Some were pleased. Some say it’s a hike to get to the rooms. Once we saw our room, we presumed it was an old and unrenovated one that they just slapped some new paint on the walls and the like. We were shocked to learn from the bellman who took our bags down the day we left, that those rooms too were entirely gutted down to the studs. We said -- well then they should get their money back from the contractor because it was the worst room we ever stayed in by far. Be aware parking is not free, whether or not you are staying at the hotel, and whether you valet or self park. $30? Maybe it was $35. ||||Like most hotels these days, they have mobile check in, which we did and said we would arrive by 1pm. We understood there is a fee for check in before 4 and that there was no guarantee there would be an early room. Mobile check in here accomplishes nothing, however. I did receive an email acknowledging my check in, which said I would receive another email when the room was ready. But that email never came. So at 5pm (!!) we left the casino and went down to the front desk to find out what was going on. No apology was to be had. Rather, despite no one else in line and 4 employees standing there chatting, apparently not one had the tiniest amount of customer service skills to pick up the phone or use whatever method they employ to notify folks their room is ready. We were offered no explanation, no gee we’re sorry, nothing. I showed them the email we received advising they would email when the room was ready, but we merely received a shoulder shrug. We asked if they were able to offer us an upgrade, and they said we didn’t reserve a higher tier room but they could upgrade for a fee. Big sigh. So, we were hoping, at least they’d give us one of the better rooms in our level. ||||That didn’t happen. Our reservation details described it as including a small couch. Nope, no couch. There was a small round table in front of the narrow window, with ONE chair. Out that window was a view of the roof and various HVAC and other equipment. (See photo; 8th floor). If you were to look way off to the side, you could see a small sliver of lake. The bathroom sink didn’t drain. The faucet handle for the cold water was broken. The door handle to the bathroom was broken. The Kleenex box had 2 tissues in it. The shower wall dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and body wash were on their last drops. No other toiletries provided. The HVAC system for the AC is so roaring loud we had to put the TV on max volume. Then in the middle of the night for some inexplicable reason major HEAT came gushing out despite our August temperatures. The lighting is terrible, no lamps, and finding the switches to turn on the wall lights is an exercise in frustration. If you have 2 beds, the nightstand between is attached to the wall, very shallow and has no drawer, rendering it quite useless. The mini bar is VERY front and center, taking up a good portion of the limited counter space. No complimentary water; only for an outrageous fee at the mini bar. DON’T TOUCH anything there unless you want to be charged immediately. If you have children, it is particularly tempting and easy picking! A candy bar is $12 – or was it $15? Prices are not posted; you need to scan a QR code. Read the tiny print on the card. The closet is weirdly located, not up near the entry door/bathroom area as is typical. You need to cross the room, with very limited space to walk between the bed(s) and counter area, to the opposite side of the room, next to the window, in the corner. There is a HUGE framed print of a wolf on the wall facing the beds. So nice to wake up to. Yikes. Who designed these rooms?!||||Restaurant choices are very limited. Casino level has the high-end Wolf by Vanderpump (quite the decor! And $$$, read reviews) and Gordon Ramsay's Hell's Kitchen. There is a food court type area at the hotel lobby level, coffee and pastries, a couple other minor things, gift shops. There is still the tunnel going over to Harrah's, with a few choices over there. Nothing like a coffee shop type place with a little bit of everything, wish there were. There are better choices outside the hotels. We ate at Sapori's Italian restaurant up on the 18th floor. They were seating only on the side with views of the roof (yes, even from the 18th floor) and construction. Again, off to the far side was a sliver of lake. The entire side of the restaurant with the stunning lake views they tout was closed. Food was ok, expensive for what it was, particularly since ambiance was severely lacking without a view you’d be expecting from the 18th. The gentleman who served us was delightful, as was the bus service. ||||Good luck with whatever you decide. We won’t be back to this...
Read moreFirst off, I hate to make a bad review. But I felt I had to so people know what to expect from a "Luxury 4 star hotel," before the ruin their vacation.
Check in was great, simple & Fast. Checked in at 4PM, nobody in line. Room listed as Luxury King room. It is clean but nothing luxury about it. The bed is really soft/sinks in like your in a hole, but some people may like that. Construction everywhere, no warning about it when I booked it. Spa was closed. $30 for Resort fee? Fine what does it include? Spa & ability to pay for additional services? I ate at Joe's Bar and Grill, dinner time, just a handful of people. I ordered a Pesto Chicken Sandwich, it was horrible. I did eat the whole thing because I was starving. Service was good though. I am not a drinker, but woke up around 1AM feeling very sick, threw up a little. I barely managed to walk to the vending machine to get some ice and soda for my stomach. Ice Machine Broken. Vending machine says swipe card, I swipe then it says, Cash Only. I have brand new one dollar bills and the feeder doesn't even take them at all. Not like the machine sucked them in and spit them out cause they were counterfeit ones or crinkled. I make it back to my room and call front desk. Tell him of the situation and asked if somebody could bring me up some ice and a Soda. He tells me there are ice and vending machines on all the floors. I told him again, I think I might have some food poisoning, and feel very sick, and I'm in a Luxury 4 star hotel and a luxury king room and can't be wondering around each floor to find ice and vending machine. I didn't mention/accuse their restaurant was the only thing I ate all day. He says I can deliver you ice but no vending machine. I said I would pay cash for a soda, he was adamant about helping a luxury room customer. I regretfully thanked him and appreciated the ice and he said right away. 45 minutes later nothing. I called again, this time he didn't answer. I left a message reminding them I am very sick and haven't received my ice I was promised, please call me as soon as possible. I figured he forgot and saw my number again and thought to himself, "Oh yeah, get this guy his ice right away," then he would do it and not have to return my call. 30 minutes later still nothing. I called again, and again, I got voice mail for the front desk. I left a similar message stating that this is not luxury anything and I was very unhappy and to please have the manager call me. As sick as I was, I figured I would try to get some ice and a soda, and figured the higher floors would have better services. I'm on the 7th floor. I go to the 17th floor, not the top out of respect to the guests. Ice Machine works, despite the room being flooded with water. I swipe the same card in the vending machine, instantly show $3 credit, select your drink. I select it and says dispensing. But doesn't. I for some dumb reason swipe my card again, it says $3 credit. I hit the button for my drink and nothing. I then figured out that they might be out of my drink so I select my 2nd choice, still nothing. So I finally hit all the drinks, still nothing, displaying "dispensing." So I drug my ice bucket up to the 18th floor, and there was no vending machine. I press the next highest button that didn't have floor number. The vending was right there near the elevator, which was great because each floor I previously had to walk down the entire length of the floors to get to vending. Put swiped the same card, this time worked perfectly and got two sodas no problems at all. In the mean time, before I left my room, I put my garbage can in front of the door propping it open, incase they delivered my ice they promised. I get back, no ice, no message on the phone. Nothing *Note: I am not saying that I got food poisoning from their Joe's Bar & Grill, nor have I said that to anybody. In all fairness, it could just be a bad meal combined with the high...
Read moreWe are currently staying at the Harveys Lake Tahoe and wanted to share my thoughts about our experience. Overall, my stay had its ups and downs, but there were definitely some positive aspects worth mentioning.
Firstly, I must commend the manager of the front desk staff for being helpful in resolving a situation that arose during our first night. Although it took until the next day, their assistance was appreciated. Additionally, the belldesk staff were prompt and helpful when it came to moving our luggage from one room to another. Their efficiency made the process much smoother.
Furthermore, after escalating the matter to the manager, we were eventually placed in the preferred and booked view room that we had initially requested. It's reassuring to know that the hotel management was willing to address our concerns and accommodate our preferences.
On the other hand, there were some aspects of this stay that were less than satisfactory. Firstly, due to management overbooking caused by a concert, we were initially given a handicap room at check-in. This was disappointing, as it was not what we had reserved.
Additionally, a couple of the front desk staff members displayed rudeness and a lack of customer service orientation. It is evident that they would benefit from more training and guidance in this area. Furthermore, the handicap room we were assigned had some issues, including flickering lights and dustiness. Both rooms lacked adequate lighting, resulting in a rather dark atmosphere.
Despite being marketed as renovated, there were noticeable flaws such as chipping paint on the doors and stains on the walls. These details detracted from the overall experience and gave the impression of poor maintenance.
One particularly odd and unhygienic aspect was the placement of the coffee maker inside the bathroom, right next to the toilet. This seemed like an oversight and could be improved.
Moreover, the casino area could benefit from better ventilation. Even passing by triggered allergies and sinus issues due to the heavy smoke. Improved air quality would greatly enhance the comfort of all guests.
Lastly, we noticed that the curtain rail in one of the rooms was broken. This may seem like a minor issue, but it did affect the functionality of the curtains.
Another mew major issues I encountered during my stay was the lack of responsiveness from the housekeeping department. No matter how many times I tried to contact them, they failed to respond. This left me feeling frustrated and disappointed, as I expect prompt and efficient service from a hotel of this caliber.
The staff seemed disinterested and unhelpful, which created a negative and unwelcoming atmosphere. It is essential for a hotel to prioritize exceptional customer service, and unfortunately, Harveys Hotel fell short in this aspect.
One particular incident that exemplified the poor service occurred when I ordered room service. To my dismay, the food took an astonishingly long 1.5 hours to arrive. However, the real disappointment came when I opened the delivery bag only to find that the soup I had ordered had spilled and saturated the other food items. This was completely unacceptable. I immediately refused the delivery and requested a full refund. Unfortunately, due to it being late at night, the hotel's kitchen was already closed, leaving me without any alternative dining options. This experience left me feeling hungry and frustrated, which greatly impacted my overall satisfaction with the hotel
In conclusion, our stay at Harveys Lake Tahoe had both positive and negative aspects. While there were helpful and prompt staff members, as well as a resolution to our room situation, there were also issues with rude staff, uncleanliness, insufficient lighting, and other maintenance issues. I hope that the hotel management takes these points into consideration and works towards improving the overall...
