I really REALLY wanted to love C's Bakery, as I've seen a lot of their work & their cakes always looked amazing. However, I did not experience this same work when I purchased a cake through them for my sons 1st birthday. Maybe I got the unlucky cake but here was my experience.
I requested for a chocolate cake but it was not chocolate. The sweetness of the cake was enough to make everyone feel sick after a few bites, it literally gave me a toothache. For the buttercream, it was also very dense & extremely sweet. I was hoping that the Strawberry & Mandarin Orange filling would offset this sweetness but we were not met with that. Instead, we barely got any fruit & there was hardly any fruit filling. For such an expensive cake, I expected maybe a little more fruit & care in it. It felt rushed & neglected as it tasted VERY similar to those $20 birthday cakes from Walmart, to where it makes you feel sick after a bite or two.
I don't think the cake was set properly as it was sinking in the middle (not a large sink, but was noticeable). The response I received wasn't great, they offered a 20% coupon for another cake, but I expected a partial or full refund as it wasn't the chocolate cake I requested. Unfortunately I had to toss 1/2 the cake away today because no one could finish it due to the above statements. It felt like It tossed $120 down the trash but in reality, I had buyers remorse for the full cake price as it was a let down. I gave a two star as C was not rude at all & the presentation wasn't awful, but -3 stars for the poor quality of the cake & support outcome.
Edit: Adding a picture to what it was supposed to look like vs what I got. The one I received was for 'Ayden' the one I was shown what it was supposed to be had WAY more detail & details in rock, textures, everything. The sign post was the only thing I liked on the cake that resembled the picture I was shown. The child character on the cake was the biggest thing to me & just seemed like I...
Read moreI'm just actually so confused? I got a red velvet peppermint cupcake. It was basic red velvet with a candy cane placed on top. Zero peppermint flavor. Placing a candy cane on a cupcake doesn't really make it peppermint? Thats not a holiday cupcake? I could have sworn it was supposed to be peppermint buttercream but maybe I'm crazy. Also, there was so much red food coloring in the cake that it stained anything it touched 😂 the cake is moist and sticky, which is good, but it also means I got red everywhere. A crumb fell on my jeans. I carefully picked it up, and my jeans were stained red already 😂 I don't usually have that problem with red velvet. I think they could probably lay off the food dye.
Cookies n cream cupcake tasted more like butterscotch than oreo. It wasn't flavorful. I wonder why they made an oreo cupcake with vanilla batter? I couldn't really taste any cookie bits, so it was like a basic vanilla cupcake. Except it also didn't have any vanilla flavor, so it was just butterscotch-y for some reason. A little too sweet for my taste. Good, but nothing special.
The frosting has a really firm consistency, almost like ice cream. Really good. I could tell it was high quality. And like I said, the cake is moist. They're really beautiful cupcakes and clearly high quality. But given the flavor being nonexistent, I don't think it's worth...
Read moreI would not give any stars if possible. It was my niece’s birthday and I wanted to get the best cake I could. I did not mind the high price as long as the cake was fresh and good quality. Cs Mad batter was recommended by another bakery as they were too booked to accommodate. And since they advertise as a Cakery instead of Bakery I thought they must be the best. I went to the bakery which is aesthetically very pleasing and looked very high end. I told them the kind of cake I wanted and the total came out to $156.16. I asked if I could taste the flavors to help me choose and she told me I would have to pay for a whole slice for each flavor to even taste. I decided to just go ahead with my order. They ask for a mandatory tip which is weird since they had not provided and service at this point to expect a tip. The cake arrived frozen, the icing was very sugary. The frosting was also just sugar. It was so hard to cut the cake that the cake cutter broke. Their website says they only use the freshest ingredients so I assumed the strawberry crunk cake would have fresh strawberries, there was no fresh fruit used at all. Overall the cake was definitely not worth the money and you are better off getting something from Smiths. The cake...
