A Disappointing and Potentially Dangerous Experience My recent visit to Mikado Sushi started with high hopes. The restaurant's exterior was inviting, and upon entering, we were quickly seated and eager to dive into the all-you-can-eat sushi. The sushi itself was indeed pretty amazing, a definite highlight of the meal. However, our experience took a sharp turn for the worse when we approached the hot bar. We were shocked to find a sign indicating it was "out of order." What was truly alarming was that despite this, the hot bar was still laden with a variety of temperature-sensitive items, including chicken, mussels, and snow crab. These are foods that absolutely require proper temperature monitoring to prevent foodborne illnesses. I immediately brought this serious concern to my server's attention, emphasizing the potential health risks. His response was incredibly troubling: he acknowledged that it was unsafe and I told him they could possibly kill someone. This admission, coupled with the visible disregard for food safety, was deeply unsettling and frankly, appalling. Given that we were unable to safely consume over half of the food included in the $30 buffet charge due to these concerns, I requested a discount. We were offered a mere 15% off, which I found completely inadequate considering the circumstances. We effectively stopped eating once we realized the severity of the hot bar issue. To document the situation, I took a picture of the "out of order" sign. As I did so, the manager approached me. This entire experience left me with the strong conviction that Mikado Sushi appears to have a blatant disregard for the safety and well-being of its customers. I mean why not put out Sternos? Come on! I have even read some of the reviews before mine and it looks like it has been a problem for quite some time. It is inexcusable to serve food that could potentially cause serious illness or even death. I will never return to this location and will be promptly contacting the Buford Health Department to report these critical food safety violations. I urge anyone considering dining here to think twice. Until this establishment reevaluates its business practices and prioritizes customer safety, it poses a...

Everyone seems to really love this place. I did not. I took my mom here for a late mother's day lunch. Now i may be wrong but i assumed there would be crab legs. Possibly a fault on my end and it is only served during certain times or days? I feel like some of the reviews are fake , i must speak my mind on this because its really concerning the amount of "positive" reviews I'm seeing and then the experience i had witnessed. The server i had was a young lady she was kind of rude , didn't really give a warm greeting or even come check on our table unless if we were all gone to the bathroom or up to the MINI , emphasis on mini buffet. The buffet area is very small , made up of two sections . The first section closest to the door is made up of orange sliced wedges , mini cupcakes , a few sashimi/nigiri pieces that looked like they have been sitting out quite a while . There was also some sides for sushi up there like ginger , wasabi and some sort of seaweed salad. The second section is about twice the size. The appetizers were all good but it seems like they were previously frozen and then microwaved then shoved on a plate to condensate for god knows how long. Personally i dont think that the price and quality of food go hand in hand. The sushi is "okay" i think you can get better sushi at niko niko , the revolving sushi factory or even publix or kroger to be quite honest. The presentation was a bit odd , they served our sushi on a black plate with a decor item that looked like it belonged in a fish tank ? I feel like the budget for this place was put all into the decoration and aesthetic of the place and they should have put more thought into the food and quality. Another thing that kind of puts me off is they had a sheet of paper with a "spin the wheel" for your review sort of thing going on. In my head that makes me think that people literally only eat here and then post a good review so that they can get the prizes. Because we all know it would be SUPER AWKWARD to post a negative review and then spin a wheel and it lands on like 20% off your meal. Overall i probably will not...

My friends and I went to Mikado on April 9 after seeing all of the advertisement for this establishment on social media. I contemplated on whether I should write this review or not, but as a paying customer, I felt cheated from what was advertised.

We live ~40 minutes south of Buford, so this was a trip for the 4 of us, which added more to our disappointment. I will keep it short.

Pros: Nice exterior, plenty of parking. Inside is also nice; however, booths are a little small. Some of the hot buffet food was very good, 2 dishes in particular

Cons: No Sashimi. We were there for 90 minutes and there was never a refilled of any sashimi. I've asked the front desk manager 3 times and she kept saying it would be refilled. I went to the sashimi counter every 5 minutes and it was never refilled. This was disappointing and they never made it right for us. This is the main reason for the low score. We felt like we were cheated as consumers. Due to the lack of sashimi, we asked if we can get the sashimi boat and we were informed you have to have 5 people or more to order the boat that comes with the AYCE price. They did not give us the boat despite the lack of sashimi. No galbi. We asked about the galbi as it was advertised, but it was not available the entire night. The majority of the food were mediocre at best. Our server was not the friendliest. She was visibly annoyed and irritated when we asked for 20 pieces of different types of nigiri (that's only 5 pieces per person)

A few more cons, but I did not include it in my rating: The server dropped all the finished plates on my partner, he was drenched in soy sauce and food - total accident.....but it did happen twice. No crab legs on the weekdays, but we knew this before going - I do question how often it would be refilled since we had no...

Today was the grand opening. I loved the atmosphere and the decorations. And they played Japanese music too, which I absolutely love. Especially Fujii Kaze. Everyone was nice and welcoming. The AYCE price for dinner was about $30, the lunch price was $24 or $26,I don't remember. The lunch price is only valid during the week. I did the AYCE and ordered fried calamari, kani salad, tamago, lobster roll and kobe roll. It took a while for the sushi to come out, so I went to the hot and cold bar. The cold bar had boiled shrimp, salad, fruit and crab legs and cake. The hot bar had dim sum, hot wings, miso and seafood soup, shrimp shumai, gyoza, veggie spring rolls, French fries and other beef short ribs. The hot wings were cold and the short rib wasn't bad. I liked the shumai, gyoza, and the veggie spring roll. Finally got my sushi and the lobster roll was delicious. I also enjoyed the kani salad and the calamari. The Kobe roll was good too; but my only complaint would be the beef on top of the kobe roll was still pink and slightly bloody, even though it was charred on top. I was on the non-raw side of the sushi menu, so I assumed it would be completely cooked. I like my meat well done, so it grossed me out. I asked if the could charr it a bit more, so the waitress took it back. They ended up making me a new one, which was nice of them, but the beef was still under cooked. I also had to ask for napkins about 3 or 4 times. But other than that, a good overall experience. It's their first day being open, so I would expect growing pains. But I would go back.
