Standard Sweets & Restaurant — Restaurant in Sugar Land

Ordered twice from Standard Sweets. Both times disappointed! Thus leaving a review as we will not be ordering from here again.

First time, ordered food for 20 people. My husband Reached to pick up the food (as they refused delivery) at the decided time, the food was not ready, they had confused our order with someone else! Came back home. They hurried the order to “make” the food and then agreed to deliver. We did not get two dishes as they couldn’t be made last minute and the chicken biryani was STALE! It smelled weird and we got the food when our guests had already arrived. The food was certainly NOT fresh.

Second time ordered for 8 people, hoping it would be better as it’s a smaller order. Got the food on time but, the kadhai chicken tasted horrid, the gravy was watery, the chicken was rubbery & undercooked and the rotis were raw in a few spots, not cooked properly and thick. The wheat flour tasted a bit uncooked. Threw away the kadhai chicken.

We gave specific instructions to not make the food spicy as we had young kids over. No attention paid.

Selective dishes might taste good but there is no consistency maintained and the food is stale. They seem to make the food in a hurry. Quality of food is very poor. They cook it at least a day before maybe because it’s definitely not fresh food and some dishes give it away while others, you don’t realize it till the next day when they smell stale. If you give special instructions, they don’t remember them. They don’t write things down anywhere.

We are Punjabis and understand what Punjabi food is supposed to taste like. Sadly...

We have always gone to standard sweets because it was nearby and the food was okay. I say okay because every time we order something from there, they either put too much paneer or too much garlic etc. The following time we go there, we let them know that "hey last time there was too much of this so if you could please put a little less" and for the most part they did a good job of keeping that in consideration. This last time that we went (1 day ago), we ordered the paneer masala and I kid you not, the consistency of it was water. It seriously looked like water with yellow coloring in it. We went back to the restaurant to show them the food and the man that works there was absolutely rude. Keep in mind that we did not go back there for our money back - we just wanted to show them that "hey, this is what it looks like." The man working there thought we wanted our money back and was absolutely disrespectful. We will never be going back to...

We used this restaurant to cater for our party and were absolutely disappointed with food quality. Appetizers were not set up on time and served cold to our guests. The food had no taste. Paneer was old and stale. I called the owner/person in charge of catering to inform of our complaint and he was not friendly all. He didn’t want to acknowledge or address the issue. Instead he made excuses on why it was cold food and hard paneer pieces. He blamed on us that it was not a live sight cooking so that’s why fried food dried out.
