My girlfriend and I entered Yeoman’s, a bar connected to Morgan’s Cove, to wait for our reservation. It was our first time there, and we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance, making it a potential spot for future visits. However, our experience took a turn for the worse when we encountered the rudest bartenders we’ve ever met.
We ordered a beer and a margarita, and everything seemed fine until it came time to settle the tab. To our astonishment, it took them almost an entire hour to close my tab of two drinks! I grew impatient and tried to get their attention, but they were clearly oblivious to us, serving other customers who had just arrived or walked up.
Finally, a male waiter cleaning behind the bar approached us. I asked him if he could help us close our tab or at least get their attention. As he went to the computer to attempt to close our tab, the bartender rudely commented to him about us. She then moved him aside and finally closed our tab, handing us our $16 bill.
To me, it seemed like they were deliberately trying to keep us waiting so I can walk out with my tab open so they could charge my card whatever they wanted for the tip… Yeah, that old trick isn’t gonna work on us.
I just couldn’t understand what the bartenders deal was. We had come in, minding our own business, and were extremely respectful, and I always leave a generous tip anywhere I go… We simply wanted to wait for our reservation, that is all…
When the bartender handed us the bill, she claimed that it was “busy.” Well, let me tell you something, there were probably around 10 people standing near the bar, including us I wouldn’t call that “busy” on a Saturday night in Downtown Tampa, rookie. There was no reason it had to take her almost an hour after we ordered our drinks to close our tab. She didn’t even check up on us once after we were served.
Clearly, she had plenty of time to serve others, so she must have had some sort of attitude problem for no reason. I was astounded by the rudeness and lack of service we received. I didn’t catch their names, but one was a short blond woman, and the other was a brunette. The brunette was our server. This isn’t the first review I see where people were ignored. Yeoman’s must really care! Been living in Tampa for years and have never, and I mean NEVER came across a situation like this. Shoot, I don’t even write google reviews on places… But I took my time with this one. hope that tells...
Read moreI went to Yeoman’s for dinner before a hockey game. Understandably, it was very busy with dozens and dozens of patrons. Based on the proportion of staff to patrons and how much the staff ran, it’s safe to say they were probably understaffed. The decorations are pretty cool and the atmosphere is very much sports-bar meets pub. I was with a party of 11 and we could not sit together, so we sat in 3 different settings (6 people, 3 people, and 2 people).
I sat outside where it was almost, but not quite, as deafening as inside. I wore noise-cancelling earbuds the whole time and could still clearly hear the music. The menu is pretty classic and what you would expect. For me (table of 2), our appetizer came out fairly quickly (nachos) with the salad mains following shortly thereafter. The nachos were on a tray with paper that peeled up and stuck to the nachos, making you occasionally eat paper. My seat-mate has a gluten allergy; they made the server aware of the allergy, asked for no croutons, and received croutons anyway. They sent it back and asked for a new salad. 20 minutes later, after no word from the waitstaff, we flagged our waitress and cancelled the order. The server, Nicole, offered the salad to-go, free of charge. From start to finish, Nicole was polite and patient with our questions. The nachos and my chicken ceasar salad were not terrible but not great; both were room temperature and unremarkable flavor-wise.
At the 3-top, which was also seated outside, their server was polite and their food came out at a reasonable time & temperature. They remarked that the food was just alright.
Inside, the music and voices were so loud that you could not hear a person speaking to you 2ft away without yelling. The inside table of 6 waited 45 minutes for stone cold food. Their server offered 10% off the bill. Their food was not replaced for the sake of time.
Overall, I would not recommend Yeoman’s as a restaurant because of the volume, understaffing, kitchen mistakes, and quality of food. I would HIGHLY not recommend them before a hockey game because they...
Read moreI recently visited Yeoman’s in downtown Tampa for the first time yesterday, and unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, largely due to the inadequate service. The venue itself has a lot to offer: various areas to hang out, including a Topgolf arcade, table pool, a center bar, an outdoor bar with seating area, and some unique décor with cool lighting. It's a spacious and lively spot, which could be great for a night out — but the service left much to be desired.
My group of about seven arrived around 3:30pm. It took nearly 20 minutes just to get a glass of water, and during that time, the bartender never checked in with us or even acknowledged our presence. We thought she might have been ignoring the entire bar, as we weren't the only ones waiting for service. We eventually had to send someone over to catch her attention as she walked by, and only then did we manage to get a drink order in.
When the shift change happened, a new bartender stepped in, and things improved slightly. She was much more attentive and even apologized for the lack of service we had received earlier. Unfortunately, by that point, we had already been left with a sour impression, and we opted not to order any food, as no one had even approached us to offer a menu or take our order during that long wait.
The atmosphere at Yeoman’s is definitely appealing, and there’s potential for a fun time, but the service really needs work. It's hard to overlook how much was missed on the customer service side, especially considering it was our first visit. With more attentive bartenders and a focus on customer care, Yeoman’s could be a solid go-to spot, but my experience was a...
