The food was delicious but the experience left a lot to be desired.
When deciding to have Thanksgiving dinner out this year we were hoping for a stress free night. That was far from our experience. We received a call at 3:30 that they were running out of turkey and that for our 6:30 reservation we would be served chicken instead. I feel terrible for Hope, the hostess, who had to make these calls to everyone. She was so kind and apologetic but we were understandably annoyed. We were nice and she even told us when we arrived that we were the most understanding and kind of the people she spoke with. Hope worked her magic and moved our reservation from 6:30 to 4:30 and had the kitchen set aside 3 turkey dinners for us. I woke my kids from their nap and rushed everyone to get ready to make it from Conroe to the Woodlands in less than an hour. We arrived and we checked in with Hope who seated us quickly. Despite the turkey debacle we were off to a good start. Our waitress was great! She was very attentive and offered my kids chicken tenders and fries even though it wasn’t on the menu. Shout out to her for making their Thanksgiving! We receive our Thanksgiving dinners and there was no creamed spinach no big deal as we assumed they ran out. Then our waitress comes by and says that they have cheesecake for dessert but it is an additional cost when very clearly on the Thanksgiving menu it was included. This is where we start to get a little annoyed again. Rushing to get there early, no spinach, now no cheesecake so my husband decides to talk with a manager. We are not let me speak to the manager people but we are just a little annoyed at this point. Sara, the first manager he spoke with was great she really went above and beyond to try and make our experience a good one and to rectify the issues. She said that the spinach was printed on the general menu and posted on the website but that location did not have spinach we were supposed to receive mac and cheese instead since we didn’t she brought us out a big family bowl of it which was great but we were all done eating. My daughter enjoyed it for breakfast this morning though. She said there was some confusion on if the cheesecake was included her an another manager read it as it was and the Chef and the head manager, Cody, read it as it wasn’t. Sara said she was going to tell our waitress to bring us each a piece of cheesecake. Sara was great and I really want it to be known that she is a great manager and has great customer service. Our waitress brings out one slice of cheesecake for the 3 of us to share. We don’t say anything at this point even though Sara had said we would each get a piece. We just all share the delicious cheesecake. Our bill comes and we are charged for that piece of cheesecake. My husband is off to find Sara again to fix the problem. Sara fixes it promptly! While waiting to receive our card back Cody the head manager comes over this is where our experience goes from bumpy to terrible. Cody was rude and condescending when speaking to us about our issues. He said that they called to tell us they were running out of turkey and we choose to come anyway and they made accommodations to seat us early so we should be grateful for that. It wasn’t his fault that they sold more turkey than they had planned to. He said that it was corporates fault for distributing a generic menu online for all the locations and not his locations fault for not honoring that menu. We just explained that we were not expecting anything more than what was advertised and he said they were more than accommodating to our request. Our experience would have still been enjoyable until our interaction with Cody.
We definitely will not be back to Morton’s for another...
Read moreMy husband had surprised me by taking me here for our first wedding anniversary. He had made the arrangements online letting them know we were coming to celebrate. I will say we were greeted very warmly like they were expecting us. They did up the table with fake rose petals and special menues for the anniversary. Our waiter came over and seemed nice at the time and took our drinks and gave us the rundown on the menu. My husband and I each ordered something from the bar and an appetizer. We waited for quite sometime before our drinks ever arrived and even longer for the appetizer. Then we ordered our meals in which I was wanting the smaller filet due to I don’t eat red meat often, that’s when our waiter really turned on us. When I told him I wanted the small one he replied, “no you want the bigger one and I’m going to tell you why.” I was so off put by that but still told him I would stick with my original order because I wasn’t sure I could finish the bigger one in which he replied, “well, we have these really great things called a to-go box!” I stopped responding after that. Time goes by after placing our food and it’s getting later and later. Mind you this is a Monday night and there are maybe 5 other tables with guests, it wasn’t busy at all. We waited over an hour for our food to arrive in the meantime anytime our waiter would check on us he would try and get us to order more alcohol. My husband did order a second beer but our waiter kept trying to pressure me into another beverage and I kept declining due to I had to work early the next morning and I’m in healthcare. After all this it still took forever for my husband to get his second beer(which he had ordered before our entree ever came) that it came even after the free dessert they gave us for our anniversary. We also got to watch the other couples in the restaurant get their photos taken and we never did. The whole experience was so off putting and it was awful feeling like we were getting nickel and dimed by our waiter. The whole dinner took over 2 hours and for a Monday and being slow it was ridiculous. The whole experience just really put a damper on our anniversary that by the time we left we didn’t even want to eat our anniversary cake we had custom made to be like our wedding cake. This was my husband’s first time in a Morton’s, I had been several times before in other states and I’m also a Landry’s Club Member and after this whole experience I don’t think we will ever...
Read moreMy fiancé and I decided to plan a trip out to Mortons for a just because brunch. I had some gift cards I had received as a birthday gift. I'm always hesitant to try places like this especially for brunch but the reviews drew us in.
We were greeted by the FOH manager and seated promptly. He was kind and welcoming. My fiancé decided to order the mimosa flight which was just ok for her, I did not order any beverages as the brunch menu didn't offer anything with bourbon, whiskey or rye.
We started with the jalapeño corn bread. This came out fresh however lacked seasoning and did not get any flavor of jalapeño. This was served with a preserve which was flavorful but doubtful its made in house.
The bread service was better than the cornbread however wasn't hot as I would expect at brunch as these I would imagine are fresh.
We waited an abnormally long amount of time for our meal. The restaurant was not packed. Coming from the industry ourselves we are very underestanding but unsure what took so long. I ordered was was supposed to be the crispy chicken on a biscuit with a cheese gravy. It was served with two pieces of either brioche or texas toast which wasn't a huge deal just not what I was expecting and way more bread than I wanted to eat. The chicken was fresh but lacked seasoning. My fiancé ordered the crab cake Florentino with lyonaise potatoes. Her potatoes were extremely salty and cold (although were unsure if this was the intention of the side) Her crab cakes were lukewarm at best, there was no contrast in texture as they were not seared well as at all and didn't taste warm throughout. The spinach definitely didn't taste like garlic, again lacking seasoning and life.
For the price I would expect an establishment to execute. The waitress even added that perhaps we should come back another time for dinner as she felt they execute that better. The saving grace was me bringing this to the attention of the manager. We don't like doing this because we're not trying to complain and never want a meal comped he did so anyways which is the reason (along with the friendly staff) that I didn't leave a one star review. Can't say I'll be back but hey maybe...
