Yama Japan express-Sushi & Hibachi — Restaurant in Toledo

I've been coming to Yama Japan for about 8 months now and I would give this place a higher rating except for the following issue: When I first started buying their dishes with filet or high grade steak within the ingredients of my dish, the quality of the steak would be so delicious. Fast forward 8 months later and those same dishes I used to enjoy so much have changed dramatically. The delicious filet has been substituted (at least on my orders) for some of the toughest meat ever!!! The quality of the steak gradually declined to a point where my last meal just a few days ago, I left a considerable amount of this very harsh, tough, unchewable meat on the side of my plate to be thrown away. Believe me I was as shocked to experience this as you may be to read this. I will give them another chance in the future but If it duplicates my last meal from this place then for sure I will be done. I only want to pay for quality not something I wouldn't even cook at home for myself. I will give this restaurant a 4.0 but they could easily be a 5.0 with better quality...

May 2021 Sadly, my second visit did not measure up to the initial experience. The sushi is still very good, but the owner had a rotten attitude. He refused to allow us to open the door even though the air inside was full of smoke, and the temperature outside was 71°F. He didn't care at all even when I told him I had a permanent breathing problem. We ordered $60 worth of sushi, and we were forced to sit outside at Blaze Pizza! The manager of Blaze was nice enough to allow us to use their tables even though we had gotten our food from a different restaurant in the same shopping plaza. The owner of Yama said that the door of the business could not be left open to get fresh air even though a couple of other businesses had their doors open at that time.

Aug. 2020 This place serves excellent sushi! I could even compare the quality to what I received at Genki Sushi in Utsunomiya, Japan. I ordered the rainbow roll, hot babe roll, and yellowtail box. All three were very good, even though the prices are a little higher here than what I'm...

I took the time to share a review about Yama Japan approximately two years ago and now I want to share what has changed during that time. Well, since that time Yama Japan has improved in all the areas I had an initial problem with. Example the tenderness of the steak and quality of the meats being used. Now that it's been two years I have visited several times over this period and the Management Team at Yama Japan has listened and listened well. The last (5) times I've purchased the food it has been exceptional!! Delicious!! And the quality of ingredients has been nothing short of Amazing!!! I give Yama Japan 5 stars without hesitation for the wonderful food they prepare at this location. Customer service has improved and once again the food is Delicious.
