Philz Coffee — Restaurant in Torrance

There's been only a few times in my life where I haven't been able to drink a cup of coffee, unfortunately this was one of them. Ordered a hot Philtered Soul, and it took close to 10 minutes to make. The result? Extremely bitter, over extracted, astringent coffee. It was totally undrinkable and after taking a few sips I had to throw it away.

Even gave my wife a bit for her to try, in case it was just me, but she had the exact same thoughts.

Service is also very... Interesting. The person that made the coffee hands me the cup with piping hot coffee and asks if I want a double cup since the coffee is extremely hot, I say it should be ok (I can withstand it and save the planet one cup of coffee) but then she says I must try it and give her feedback before she hands me a lid...

Did you just suggest I should try this boiling hot coffee immediately for me to get a lid, when even you just said I might need a double cup?

Overall it was a bad experience and it's sad we can't still get a good cup of coffee anywhere in Del Amo.

I'm normally not a huge coffee drinker (and couldn't even tell you what the difference is between an espresso or a cappuccino), but Philz always comes through as offering a great drink without too much fuss.

I ordered a Mint Mojito Iced Coffee since I was able to dilute it with some oat milk to make it creamier and less bitter. The mint really adds a nice touch to the drink and I found myself enjoying it much more than I thought I would. The barista even asked to make sure I was actually enjoying it before turning it over for me to really consume. Much appreciated!

The space itself in this Philz was nice to work at for a few hours. A few tables with outlets right on the tabletop, making it efficient to charge your devices and use that good wifi.

Finding parking inside the lot this Philz is in can be a nightmare though. We spent a good ten minutes searching wide before finding a spot. If you come on a weekend, beware that it may take a bit of time to locate parking before enjoying all that Philz...

I love this place!! I had never heard of it until I started working at the Del Amo mall, but their customer service is unlike any other food establishment I’ve ever been to, truly! They always ask once they finish making your coffee to taste it and will make adjustments accordingly so the order is fit for the customers needs/wants. The last time I went here, I was transparent with barista Irene that I was on a budget, and in order for me to afford my order, she gave me her employee discount!
