My family and I have been going to Montauk every summer since 2001. We enjoyed going to Sausages to grab a late lunch after a long day at the beach. They have a great variety of slices which are all delicious. The barbecue chicken and bacon with ranch dressing (BCBR) became our favorite. It has always been a square thin sesame crust pizza loaded with chicken, bacon and optional ranch dressing. When we drove out to Montauk our first and last stop was for pizza at Sausages. This year we came out on our boat (a very small boat). We ordered two of the barbecue chicken with ranch dressing and a buffalo pizza, which were delivered. We ordered one to eat and two to take home for our daughter and her friends. She could not wait for us to get home, for the pizza of course! When we opened the boxes we were surprised to see the pizza's we round! There was hardly any chicken or bacon on them, no ranch dressing, and the crust was not thin but two inches wide! We called Sausages and were told when they get busy they make those pizza’s round and apologized for not including the ranch dressing. Sausages has always been busy, we have never had a round barbecue chicken pizza over the years. We still have a pizza and a half no one wants to eat. What happened Sausages? Give some thought for the reasons you are so busy, but don't lower your standards because you are. FYI - If you order the Barbecue chicken and bacon or the buffalo chicken pizza make sure it's how they made them originally, they are the best. Those who have had the BCBR pizza know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the memories...
Read moreI'm in Montauk annually, usually post Labor Day, sometimes also in the spring around May. So I might have been in here once before to try the pizza but I can't remember. But we just went in there Friday night, September 6th, 2019 during the Dorian hurricane storm and we were greeted by a very friendly waitress and pleasant behind the counter staff. My friend and I decided to split a meatball parmesan hero and a lobster ravioli marinara. I don't typically order meatball parmesan heroes, but that's what my friend wanted.. and I'm very particular about my Italian food and very fussy about meatballs. I thought the bread was very fresh with just the right amount of crispyness and the meatballs were tasty and not overly spiced, not too tough or odd flavors. I also enjoyed the lobster ravioli with marinara sauce. I could definitely taste the lobster and the marinara sauce was nicely seasoned with just a little bit of spice. We were happy to dip the bread served on the the side into the sauce until all of it was gone! We also tried the Peroni Italian beer.. and enjoyed that as well. So overall we were very satisfied and would definitely come back again. Now I want to try the pizza to see what that's like! They're also known for their sausages (made there) as the name of the place suggests. So it would be good to try those...
Read moreFor 20 years we have annually gone to this establishment. It became a tradition while vacationing in Montauk. On the afternoon of 7/15 we arrived for our traditional pizza. The cashier was working on tickets when we arrived, we patiently waited. The greeting was surprisingly abrupt. Although taken by surprise at the initial interaction I moved forward with our order. I was again perplexed when the cashier snatched the credit card out of my hand. I realize that my one pizza won’t impact the big picture however sometimes it’s the simple quick interactions that matter. I am sorely disappointed by this cashiers lack of customer service. It put a bitter twist on a family tradition. Maybe it’s time...
