I ate here several times during my 4-night stay at the Holiday Inn. Unfortunately, it got a little worse each time. My first breakfast buffet experience was relatively good. For a breakfast buffet, the food was good; good coffee as well. And my first dinner there was also delicious; one of the best chicken parm dinners I’ve had. And Taylor, my server was outstanding. However, the next morning, the older lady working the breakfast buffet was rude and confrontational, embarrassing me in front of the whole restaurant. I had waited for quite a while for a table - like their sign asked me too - but no one came to the host station. There were others waiting as well so I peaked into the restaurant and saw a server just fiddling with the place settings at an empty table so I walked in and tried to get her attention that people were waiting to be seated. Before she had a chance to respond, the older lady came from the back and confrontationally asked “May I help you!?” I responded by saying I was just trying to get a table for breakfast. Her response was “There’s a sign saying wait to be seated!” I said “I know. I’ve been waiting, but no one was coming.” Mind you, this is in front of the whole restaurant; in front of patrons sitting eating their breakfast. It’s like I was being scolded in front of the whole “class” for not waiting in line. I’m a grown man, 54 years old and a 70 year-old woman was scolding me out loud in front of total strangers. If I wasn’t so hungry, I would’ve just walked out and not come back. That time, the food was a bit tired. The French toast was hard and chewy. The bacon was like jerky, and the sausage was flat, lukewarm, dull gray discs. The eggs were okay though. I didn’t go back for breakfast after that. I did wander back there for a late lunch one day, hoping that server wasn’t there. I ended up eating lunch in their lounge, listening to some loud know-it-all trying to impress his friends with his regional knowledge. He spoke about 20 decibels louder than normal speech and everyone in the bar could hear his inane blathering. So, not the restaurant’s fault necessarily but an annoyance nonetheless. The burger I got was okay - not bad, but not really good either. It was sustenance. All...
Read moreMy girlfriend and I felt like we were discriminated against at this establishment (we are interracial lesbians). I visited the Holiday Inn and decided to stop here for Happy Hour. Earlier in the day, we ran into one of the bartenders who told us about an event there so we were excited to come back. My girlfriend and I walked in and there were 2 other older couples sitting at the bar that both had their dishes. We sat at the bar and the same bartender we spoke to before met us with a cold demeanor, I worked in food service so I understand we are not perfect and chalked it up to nothing. We gave her our drink order and looked at the menu to order appetizers. We sat for 1 hour, the waitress didn’t look our way again. About 3 more girls came to bartend/waitress so we were excited to finally order when none of them looked our way either. At the point we left, there was a table of 8, and 3 couples at the bar with 1 man by himself. That man had 3 drinks, the new couple that sat down got their food and drinks, and the other couples were finishing up. We can’t help but believe that this was discrimination. Everyone else was being taken care of except for us. Even when we finally flagged down someone for the check, they sent someone else to close us out who just handed us the tab with no words exchanged. We left and ended up having a great vacation and a great meal elsewhere but that was the worst, most uncomfortable experience at a bar/restaurant I’ve ever had. Don’t go here if you aren’t...
Read moreStaying at the holiday inn and my mom and i decided to come down for a drink and dessert. Got greeted and sat by the rudest lady. Wait ten min for her to come back and take our order and it wasn't busy. I didn't say a word to her at all and yet she kept saying "oh the bartender is really busy" and just overall rude. We ate our dessert and drinks. Everything was fine until the waitress comes over and says "Whats the issue" when i was giving literally no indication of any issue.
Not sure what her issue was but i've never had a waitress treat me like that. Dena, i hope you enjoyed the message on the tip line!
UPDATE 1: spoke with the restaurant manager and he said "she's never acted like this before" He was more interested in telling me that then actually doing something.
UPDATE 2: Upon checkout I spoke to the general manager of the hotel and she was very nice and understanding about the whole thing. The waitress was in the wrong. Apparently this was "the buzz" around the servers that night. The only thing I did was "eyeball" Dena as we were waiting a long time to be waited on and even longer for our drinks that Dena said "the bartender is backed up" For this waitress to create a scene with me over nothing during the christmas holiday was insane. General manager took $100 off the stay. Thank you very much. However, if you don't do something about this waitress, I feel you will comping more people money off their stay...
