DOESN'T CARE ABOUT GETTING PEOPLE SICK So where should I start... My girlfriend and her family chose this spot to eat after an afternoon in town, I've been going up to lake placid for years, and have never visited this place before, but figured why not try it, seemed relatively new, the menu looked cool albeit a little expensive, but we got food anyway. As soon as we had ordered the cashier asked if we would like to tip. I said sure why not, now myself working in food service my whole life found it very strange that they asked for a tip before you even received any service from them other than punching in an order into an iPad. But anyway, we ordered 2 'dack burgers, one without onions, and one without cheese. When they came to the table the one that wasn't supposed to have onions on it... Had onions on it, now keep in mind these are thinly sliced carmelized onions, so they aren't something you can take off and just eat the burger, because they leave an onion flavored residue all over the burger. So my girlfriend took the burger back up to the window with two bites taken out of it. Here's where it gets bad. They took her food back in the window (coronavirus anybody?) And then 5 minutes later the burger comes back out... Fresh bun, but the EXACT SME BURGER WITH THE BITES IN IT. They scraped most of the onion off and put fresh cheese on it, which means a cook was handling her bitten into food in the kitchen contaminating everything... (what if she had coronavirus???) . Well this time I took it up to the window.. 15 minutes later a new burger came out (#3) and the manager on shift (dirty red hair I believe her name was Margo?) promised a refund for the burger. Well three days later here I am looking at my credit card statement with no refund and they even had the audacity to go back and add the tip on. Poor service NO REGARD FOR PUBLIC HEALTH Lies And possible fraudulent credit card activity... I am honestly disgusted and should have taken pictures and reported them to the health department for violating health standards. HOPEFULLY this will eventually...
Read moreTruthfully I am really disappointed in this place after ordering take out from them this evening. Now the dack shack has always had interesting menu items that are fairly tasty but tonight's meal was just disappointing. I ordered the bratwurst, meatloaf, and a dack burger. the Dack burger meat was not grinded well and a bit to course affecting the burger's flavor but it was cooked well. they do have really nice buns. The Meatloaf had a nice sauce but it was nothing to write home about. The Bratwurst had nice flavor but the Sauerkraut was mediocre at best. Both of the meals came with the choice of two sides (though you are not allowed to ask for fries as a side, and online at least you can't order two of the same side for 'reasons') The sides were pretty disappointing the mac cheese sauce had little flavor to it despite being one of the restaurant's signature dishes. The Mashed Potatoes had 0 salt or pepper in them and just lacked flavor. The prices were fairly outrageous since it was almost 65 dollars for 2 entrees that were 20 and 22 dollars that were completely disappointing a passable burger , and a 4 pack of beer. the portions have gotten smaller since covid. The good things about this place. they are taking covid seriously, online ordering take out or delivery. So if you order from them rest assured that it will be safe. They do make fairly good french fries and have a decent poutine though i did not order that this evening. I do believe they have one of the best milkshakes in town, which for 6 bucks is expected. If I were to order from them I would probably buy a their mountain of fries for 10, and a milk shake and go home cook a protein.
Overall I am probably not going to be recommending this restaurant to clients when I am teaching skiing this winter since the food...
Read moreDestiny weaves machinations for one and all, Today I express singular emotion for it, that of gratitude For Destiny to devise a scheme that crossed my path with the exquisite "Dack Shack" this afternoon enveloped my mood in childlike joy. Immedieately upon arrival, pleasant expressions and friendly demeanor of the establishments employ makes one endeavor greatly to find a fault with it's exemplary service, a true paragon of guest service all are to aspire for. A steadfast Server known as Filip had made great strides to invoke my satisfaction, walking me through the menu ensuring my glee with each of his silver tongue remarks. I found great amusement in his persistance to address me as "Ramo druže", which I later discovered to mean "a friend of great value". Meal prepared for me was a sandwhich infused with grilled poultry and sizzeled swine flesh. Once the meal was brought before me I could tell great care and precision in manufacture of this magnificent dish had taken place. The air around the dish permeated with affection and pride in one's work. The chef goes by the name of Milenko and personally delighted in a couple of savory bites I had the pleasure to call sustinence for the day. Joy was bountiful for the sweet "Žana" whose factor in the experience I know not, chose to quantify the social aspect of the ordeal with her interest in the ongoing quality of service. I found myself in company of the establishments finest truly making it a meal to remember. The atmosphere at the location shows a sagacious individual had planned the interior design of a classic diner with wooden accents, cementing the experience as one unlikely to be commited...
