Just got back from a weekend away in Lake Placid. This is a great location. View was great. Stayed in a king size bed suite with jacuzzi tub and fireplace. The only real issue we had was the cable wasn't ready to go. We got there close to 1am though so it wasn't a big deal. In the morning we stopped to check in and let the staff know. Immediately the man straight from the videos on their website went right to our room and fixed it. Great customer service. When we got back our room was replenished with new towels, firewood, and soaps. There is an indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna. I used the hot tub. The only issue I had with this was that the changing area was kinda small and off the hot tub room which meant it was very hot trying to get back in your normal clothes. And you have to access the pool room from the outdoors.. meaning you had to leave the hotel to go outside and go back inside a pool house which I've never encountered before. (So it was a bit odd to me) Breakfast was a little lacking. Would have liked to see a few more options. However, when I booked the reservation on the phone I asked about breakfast and the woman told me muffins and coffee so I knew what to expect. When you look online it is a little misleading because it says "free breakfast" which I would normally think a few different types of drinks and a wider variety of foods. All in all, given location, view, probably the best customer service, and price, this is definitely worth 5 stars. I would definitely book a...
Read moreNestled along the serene shores of Lake Placid, Wildwood on the Lake is a true hidden gem offering an unforgettable retreat. From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality of the family-owned establishment made us feel right at home.
The location is simply breathtaking, with picturesque views of Lake Placid that can be enjoyed from the comfort of your Adirondack-style room. Compared to the cookie-cutter modern hotels in Lake Placid, Wildwood offers a true Adirondack experience for guests young and old. Our spacious accommodation featured a fridge/microwave combo, comfortable beds, and a cozy balcony overlooking the tranquil waters, perfect for sipping morning coffee.
One of the highlights of our stay was the lake-fed pool, a refreshing way to cool off after a day of adventure. Wildwood on the Lake also provides a variety of watercraft—paddleboards, kayaks, and canoes—allowing guests to explore the lake at their leisure.
The owners' dedication to guest satisfaction was evident throughout our visit. They were not only friendly but also incredibly accommodating, ensuring that every aspect of our stay exceeded expectations and hosting a nightly bonfire beside the lake.
As a result of our wonderful experience, we are already planning multiple returns this summer. Whether you seek relaxation amidst nature's beauty or a place close to all of the Olympic venues, Wildwood on the Lake is the perfect destination for your Lake Placid getaway. We can't wait to return and create more...
Read moreThe whole place needs updating. Everything felt worn out. Our room looked over the water which was one of the better features. The tiny coffee maker with chemical whitener and sugar and one tiny packet of coffee was not appetizing. No kettle. The small old microwave needs replacing. The morning coffee provided downstairs was a nice gesture but again, no real milk just chemical whitener. The small fridge in the room had no real freezer compartment. The tv did not work at all the first night and when I mentioned it, they said someone looked at it but it went fuzzy again after a couple of hours. The bathroom is very strange - very very low toilet never seen anything like it. The toiletries that were provided were very meager and poor quality. The bed was a bit soft but ok to sleep on. The bed lights are these super super bright overhead lights that are uncomfortably glaring. There is only one beside table right in the middle of two queen beds so somebody has no place to put their book, water or access to turn off the reading lights.
There were two arm chairs and a table but you could not eat at the table because you were too low in the chairs.
The bed was a bit soft but it was pretty comfortable and the place looked clean - on the plus side.
You are outside of the main core and need to get in your car to do any shopping or go to eat or get groceries.
We felt that this was just ok for the price, Not a great bargain, and the room was outdated and depressing and we would...
