Let me start by saying that the area can be expensive depending on the time of year. I booked Maple Leaf Inn based on my budget and positive reviews and it was pretty much what I expected. It’s an old motor lodge really and you can walk to the town, around mirror lake, and to various commerce without taking the car, which was nice.||On the plus side, it is clean and the proprietor is friendly. Location as I mentioned above is good and parking is free although be prepared to parallel park in a tight lot in front of your unit. TV was a decent size for the size of the room. There is a good sized fridge and a microwave. If you’re staying awhile, there is a roomy dresser and a closet. I think the room was well insulated for sound because we didn’t hear our neighbors much even when someone was blasting music outside.||Be aware the room is a small one. I would guess maybe 15x11 so things are tight. I knew this would be the case but even though I tempered my expectations, it’s not exactly comfortable. Bathroom is similarly tiny although shower worked well (after I cleaned a wad of hair out to get it to drain). Room air conditioner struggled on a 65 degree night to get the room cool. It’s an old place and the decor and HVAC reflect that. This room is better if you just come in to sleep rather than if you plan on spending much time in it. We had some rainy weather so we were at the room more than we had hoped for.||Interestingly, this is the first time I’ve been in a hotel since the pandemic started that cleaning came in to make up the room. Neither here nor there, I just wasn’t expecting that these days.||Overall, a small but pleasant enough place that met expectations. I think if I ever find myself in the area again, I would try to afford a...
Read moreSelf Check is a new process for me. The self check in was not smooth. We received a message that a code with room number would be sent by 4pm and to reach out if not received. We reached out multiple times and no code or room number. Short story, we were knocking, calling, texting, emailing....the property manager (not involved in check in) assisted and we finally got a callback. Not ideal after 6hrs of driving in the darkness.
Outside that, the room was very clean, the king beds were comfortable, the fridge had a separate freezer/fridge, there was a microwave which was not listed, parking is ample and located close to grocery stores and many attractions. We stayed a week. We also did not realize housekeeping was upon request. We were out of toiletries and reached our via text. We were told housekeeping is on the premises from 9am-3pm. As we were away most of the day, we missed the chance to connect. Management understood our needs and graciously sent someone back in the evening to drop off supplies. Outstanding service! As we are use to having staff available at the front desk, it was a learning curve this stay but the Management team was great to help us navigate and assist...
Read morebed was uncomfortably soft. This is very rare for me, I have no problem with 90% of hotel/motel beds. I was initially assigned a room that had not been made up when I arrived. The beds and pillows were dirty and disgusting. I had to call the number, leave a voicemail, and await a callback (which thankfully I did get about 10 minutes later) in order to be reassigned another room which, thank God, was available and made up. Worst of all was what happened on the final morning. Checkout was clearly stated as 11 am. I slept in late after hiking Mt Marcy the previous day. At 10:30 I had just gotten out of the shower; after dressing I was going to do my final cleanup and leave. However at that time one of the management/workers unlocked my door and barged in WITHOUT knocking or asking or anything. I had to shout at him to get out. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Respect your stated times and the privacy of your guests.
The rooms were basic but completely fine for the price point. Shower had poor water pressure.
Without the mishaps the room would have been perfectly acceptable for the price. I hope the management learns from this and takes the privacy of their guests...
