Marcy Bar Room & Marcy Café — Restaurant in Town of North Elba

I’m not someone who usually leaves reviews, but this was not okay. We were a table of three and we were the only people there. We ordered two trout dinners and one burger, and it took them an hour and a half to serve it. We politely asked them several times why it was taking so long, and they gave no reason each time- just kept saying it would be out shortly. Finally they served our bland and disappointing meals which were way overpriced for the quality of food. As a restaurant worker, this would never fly in a respected restaurant, and if it did the dinner would have been comped. On the upside, they had good apps - the salad was good and so was one of the meals (the burger!) They initially only offered 20% off but when we complained about the quality of the food, they took one of the meals and an appetizer off! Not great, but at least they...

We called several hours early to make a reservation for 4, we were assured we didn’t need a reservation and that there would be plenty of tables. We arrive and wait in line at the hostess stand for several minutes and no one comes to help us; so I went looking to make sure we were in the right spot and ran into someone who appeared to be a manager. She told me “unless you have a reservation, we’re booked for the evening”. Upon my questioning she snippily replied “we had a lot of walk-ins”. On a Saturday night during February break? No way?! That’s why we wanted to make a reservation! We’ll happily take our business elsewhere. We then had to relay this to the line of guests that had formed at the hostess stand since still no one...

We went here for dinner because we are staying at the Grand Adirondack. We walked in a couple minutes early for our reservation and stood around for 10 minutes while several staff made eye contact with us but did not acknowledge us. We had to walk around the restaurant to find someone to seat us. After we sat, our server who was wearing black glasses, was quite frankly incompetent.

She chatted with other guests even after noticing that we were ready to order. We sat at our table with empty drinks for several minutes even as she walked by We asked for the check several times because she continued to attend to other guests without bringing our check.

This is a one and only experience...
