I really wanted to/want to love this place as Sloppy Joe’s in Key West is one of our faves. My experience here so far has been a little strange. We stopped in IDK maybe a month ago now and sat at the top rail right outside the bar. Hands down NICEST server ever she had the best customer service and said ‘thank you’ after everything we or she said it was next level good service! I got the sloppy Joe and my wife got a side of shrimp and a salad. When my food came out I looked down and lo and behold there’s a big sized diamond earring sitting on my plate sort of resting on the bun. This was a first for me! I was like ummm awkward. So, when the server came over I showed her and she said they’d remake it. She was nice about it but didn’t really seem shook up. We assumed it was probably hers maybe and it fell out as she was bringing the food out?? Not sure how else an earring falls on a plate but doesn’t get directly in the food. Who knows. Anywho was surprised she never apologized or sent someone over or really anything. Imagine swallowing that thing…anyways that first time I had that issue but my wife loved her food.
Went back a couple weeks ago and this time got seated at the lower ledge closest to the boardwalk. Server didn’t come over even though she saw us. Then she finally came and we put drink orders in. Then it’s like she forgot about us. Eventually she was walking by after bussing a table and had dirty food plates in her hand and asked if she could take our order. We were like wow well whatever we better order. Wife again had good food but I struck out again! I had a cheeseburger medium well. As soon as I got it and bit into it it was so pink it looked like it belonged back on the grocery store shelf. I didn’t even complain or say a word I just ate my fries. At that point it wasn’t worth it to me and I sort of just crossed it off my list of places to go in the future. Disappointing for sure but maybe a good spot to have drinks in the future. Only reason I’m not 1-starring this place is because my wife has enjoyed her food but just had laughed at the bad luck...
Read moreWe had a great experience from the moment we entered the door until we left and even went for a walk on the beach with our pup. I have never been to a Sloppy Joe's before despite always hearing great reviews of various locations, and I was not disappointed. We got to sit out on the deck for one of the perfect days in Florida, and they let us bring our puppy in with us as long as she stayed on the leash and behaved. We were taken very good care of by Melissa, who our friend told us about, and she was amazing. I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese 😍 and my wife had a cheeseburger, and our friend got some wings. The chunks of lobster were so delicious, and the mac and cheese had this layer of cheese melted on top of it that just made it so amazing and it was so cheesey that I had to be careful not to get the strings of cheese on me from the first bite to the last. It was perfect for that Sunday. My wife said that she loved her cheeseburger while the pup enjoyed some chicken tenders. Our friend had some Parmesan wings, which she thoroughly enjoyed. Melissa was always coming by to check on us and talked with us a couple of times and told us that if we wanted to go out on the beach after we paid, they had a ramp and stairs that lead down to an amazing beach that was so big and flat, it would have been perfect to spend the rest of the day on, but we had to leave. I can't wait to go back and try some of their drinks and get the Lobster Mac and Cheese again. If you are ever down on Treasure Island and need an out of the way place to get great food with an amazing atmosphere that is right on the beach, we definitely recommend...
Read moreWe have eaten many times at Sloppy Joes over the past almost 20 years. At one time they had the best fish tacos on the beach. Another time they carried Kona Beer that was a great treat. It is hard to find. The problem in the past year is that they've changed the menu 3 times. The fish tacos are now inconsistent. We got a grouper sandwich this past weekend that barely resembled fish (yes that is it in that picture). The grouper nuggets came with fried calamari in it....that repulsed me. But the grouper nuggets were inedible anyway. We sent both back. The very kind and sincere waiter took those off the bill. He was wonderful, tho a little slow to check on us while we sat basically in the rain on the outer deck. I had the blackened chicken wrap, that was divine, with homemade chips that were not soggy or soft. Very crunchy and tasty which is hard to do with homemade chips. Our daughter had a chicken cheese quesadilla that was also tasty. Boys ate mini burgers and fries that must've been good bc they ate them all. If they could make their food and drinks more consistent it would be a place we would patronize more often. If the grouper isn't good that day, just scratch the dishes from the menu. Stop trying to feed the public inedible grouper hoping no one notices. We do. We still tipped the waiter over 30% of the bill. Thanks to him for being so nice and...
