Because of my rather extensive allergies, there was a lot I couldn't eat there, and I in fact discovered a new allergy there.
However. The service is impeccable, they have a variety of menu options that cater to pretty much anyone that would be interested in this place to begin with. Everything was very friendly, and I enjoyed my time there.
They have watermelon lemonade.
Let me repeat that: they have *watermelon lemonade." The amount of watermelon and sugar isn't where I would personally prefer it, but it was good, and very exciting.
They also have beautiful succulents on all the tables, and they have a price right there on them - if you fall in love with one of them, you can buy it from them!
I had a raw seed burger with kale chips. The burger itself was pretty good, and the kale chips were freaking amazing. As I told my friends, "they are absurdly good."
When I noticed I was allergic to something I was eating, I asked if there was ginger in anything I ordered, and the person at the front asked the folks in the back and was told the dip had a bit in it.
Said cook came out and saw what I had and explained what was in the dip and that he thought I had a different dip, and that nothing I had should have ginger in it. Having the cook come out - the person who actually makes the things, not someone who puts them together on a plate - and look at what I had and go through what's in them. That was fabulous and I really appreciate that.
I took the time to eat every piece of what was on my plate on its own to determine what I was allergic to, and discovered it was the sprouts.
While I personally won't be going back, that's because I'm allergic to like everything they have, not because of literally anything else. I have quite a list of allergens that are commonly in foods. If I didn't, I would absolutely go again.
If nothing else, i recommend going just to find out if you like it here. Because I think this is the kind of place that varies widely depending...
Read moreI go to Urban Fresh once or more times a week. I order healthy green juices there, especially before donating platelets at the Red Cross. The daily menu offers an abundance of fresh and raw choices, more than any other Vegan place in town. If I don't see a salad or daily entree I want at a particular time, they sometimes can whip something up or modify it for me to my exact taste. After several years of dining here, it has only gotten better.
My son, Dan, introduced me to this wonderful place to eat on one of his visits and I am so grateful that he pointed it out to me. This place has gotten so good, I come often and get what I want before 3 pm, when they usually close for the day. Sometimes, I save one of the items for dinner. Chauncey, Dana and crew have never disappointed me and I am speaking as a person who was evaluated and qualified as a food taster for upscale (Secret Shopper) restaurant evaluation. Tucson is fortunate to have Urban Fresh.
If you ever read anything negative about Urban Fresh, question it. Their reviews deserve uniformly high grades. Chauncey invests his heart in the food he prepares and usually serves his customers face to face with a welcoming grin. If anything were ever not to your satisfaction, he would immediately make it good. But I bet that your experiences here will be uniformly satisfying if not overall excellent.
Expect a good variety of the healthiest vegan food you can find. Understand that they are sensitive to your needs and will modify food for your individual taste. I have tried nearly everything on the menu and have Enjoyed trying new recipes. If you go frequently, they will probably...
Read moreWe are in love with Urban Fresh and can't wait to return. The food is Fresh, healthy and delicious. Even the corn chips for my chiliquiles were baked instead of fried, allowing for a tastier meal and the chance to savor the rich flavors without being heavy and fried. Simply delicious. My hubby got the biscuits and gravy, which were incredible. The gravy was outstanding and different from other kinds we have tried. We got two raw items to go to eat on the road for lunch and they held up great and were outstanding. Words can't do justice to how amazing the onion tart with walnut/pecan crust tastes - one of the top vegan items I have ever enjoyed. The collard green wrap with Sunflower pate blew my mind it was so flavorful! And then there are the baked goods... omg! Flavorful cinnamon roll and out of this world good scone. And the staff were wonderful and the owners/cook were there, too, and so kind. In addition to incredible food, we got wonderful tips on places to explore in beautiful Arizona and tips for parking in downtown tuscon next time we come through. Grateful for an amazing culinary and personal experience 🙏 And back again in 2025 and everything was even better than my memories!! Delicious food and wonderful...
