TLDR- we won’t waste our time here again.
I’m surprised at how many good reviews there are of this location. Because of the rating we have wanted to try this sushi spot. We just came here for the second time tonight to try the food. But what happened the first time???!
A few months ago We came on a weekday evening. There were 3 tables seated, some folks waiting to pickup orders and we waited to be seated. Someone came up and handed a bag to someone waiting then walked away, didn’t welcome us or anything. Finally we said we wanted to dine in if that was possible. They sat us just across from the kitchen entrance. We sat for 15 minutes before we got up and walked out of the building. Not a single person that walked in and out of the kitchen acknowledged us being there never got a drink order in, not nothing. Didn’t even see an employee on our way out.
We’ve tried all the other sushi in town and this is the last spot we wanted to check out so figured let’s see if it’s better on a weekend. We got in and were greeted right away and seated quickly. There were a lot of full tables with people eating so we were hopeful. I checked the time to see if things might be different, we sat down at 8:14 pm. Same experience of servers walking past us with out a hello. At 8:25 someone finally said we will help you in a minute. At 830 we finally ordered waters and food. It took another 5 minutes to get the water. By this time most of the other tables that had food were done and leaving the spot
I understand food takes time to make but customer service here sure seems to be on vacation. At best the food was very average.
The 5 rolls finally showed at 8:45. We had to ask for dining plates and there was a dime size drop of wasabi on the tray. Not nearly enough and at 8:55 someone finally came by to tell us the kitchen was closing Incase we wanted to order more. (A “how is everything?” Would have been a better way to start that conversation. And by 9pm they brought the check over in the middle of our meal saying they were closing. Door and Google said 930 close, we’re trying to rush out no need to add pressure.)
Nah. Thanks. Don’t think we will ever...
Read moreSo... I really don't want to be too mean about this place because the staff were super nice (albeit we were only there briefly to collect our order) and the last thing I want to do is rip on one of very few places in Twin that isn't your standard, tedious American fare...
But man, our food was pretty disappointing bordering on horrendous.
The teriyaki eel was actually half decent, not that cooking eel, putting it on top of rice and throwing some teriyaki sauce over it is terribly taxing.
The three sushi rolls we had were not good. There was no discernable salmon in one that should have had, the tempura batter was thick and leathery rather and one of them tasted like what can only be described as feet. Yes, our sushi roll tasted kinda like blue cheese that had sat out in the sun.
Two stars because they were lovely, I totally support local business and I'll give them one more chance... Maybe. But yeah, super...
Read moreAn ok place to get some Japanese fare.
Came here for dinner on a work trip. I'm a big fan of Japanese food so I was excited to try this place. I ordered a Maki roll and two Nigiri varieties. The Maki was good, with some good flavors. The Nigiri had ok flavor, but the composition could have been better and the rice was bland. The water that came with my food tasted very strongly of chlorine as well.
However, this didn't detract from what was otherwise a decent meal. The wait staff were very attentive and friendly, and even convinced me to get another roll when I was done. This didn't take much since the portions weren't huge. If you're coming in hungry, definitely order plenty of food, probably at least two rolls. The second Maki roll was OK, but kinda bland tasting and not cut evenly. It fell apart easily.
Definitely not the best I've been to, but not the worst either. I might come back but not my...
