We stopped in Doc’s after visiting a few other bars in the area and having no luck with service. We stopped in to ask hours since it was fairly late in the evening. The bar tender was very sweet, kind and let us know she was going to close up whenever everyone was gone and we said thank you and let her know we’d stop by the next night so we weren’t keeping her. She immediately welcomed us in to sit and have a drink or two and was very attentive as we got to relax and enjoy some drinks. A few other couples came in and people were still playing darts. I don’t know whether it was the super-fun-but-tacky Xmas decorations or the promise of people smoking indoors while we ate, but we had to give this bar a shot. Burgers were way overpriced at $15 so we shared some sub-par nachos instead (think canned chili and cheese whiz). Bartender was more interested in the football game than with the 5 customers at the bar, but did get very excited when asked about weekly Jeopardy. I think I would have had a better experience had we come at night just for drinks (hold the nachos) when we could have interacted with other bar patrons. Not writing this place...
Read moreThis is a laid back beach bar. The music is usually a couple of musicians,one on an electric piano and the other on drums. My favorites are old beach music - they seem to play them all.
The dance floor is small but lively.The fun is infectious.
The food is as good as I have had in Savannah. The chef is great but tempermental. He may be off on some adventure on any given night. The fish is done perfectly with a light crust. The salads are large and excellent. This is not your typical bar food. The menu changes daily and most dinners are below $10.
