Had an AMAZING time there at Back River Brewery this past weekend. Went for lunch on Saturday and came back for the music and brews that same evening. The beer was high quality & consistent and the food was generously portioned, seasonally fresh, creative, and all locally sourced. Cool vibe inside! Enjoyed talking with the family seated next to us, who were visiting from PA, about the handmade skin-on-frame kayak hanging in the ceiling. It was fun to watch the chef work his magic, right there through the brewhouse window, with the constraints of such a small kitchen prep-space. I love that you're encouraged to and can also tip the kitchen with a choice on the menu to send a round of drinks for the kitchen and staff. Bar-staff and kitchen were attentive to details and friendly (took our picture after the meal). Kitchen made a special kids plate for us with beer brat "hot dogs" and a flat-bread grilled cheese for the kids to share. We shared between 4 adults the Caprese salad, bruschetta, Cucumber/ tomato salad, Turkey BLT on Foccacia, Chicken Naan, and a BrisketKorean BBQ with Cinnamon Roll for dessert. All were super tasty and thoughtfully garnished with house-made sauces, micro-greens, housemade pickles, and more. Of the beers, I particularly enjoyed the seasonal Sour cherry limeade which was just released, ..very drinkable beer for a hot summer day on the beach. The Vanilla Amber was also very drinkable with good body and not too heavy. We'll look forward to our next visit and will surely be telling all our friends to go check out this super creative, and fun little micro-brewery on Tybee Island!

We were glad to be able to finally experience this breweries own beers in a trip down to the area back in February. We had stayed on Tybee for a few days in August 2022 after they had opened, but due to supply chain issues, they'd not yet been able to start brewing their own beer. So, after walking the beach with grandkids and having lunch at Huc-A-Poo's, we decided to drop back buy and sample their beers. Sure glad we did. It is was pretty early and parking was available, so didn't have to feed anymore money into Tybee's coffers for that. Went right up and we were the only people their so, obviously, the service was stellar. We did a flight and a couple of tasters, so tried six of their beers in all. Now, I rate beers as an example of the STYLE, not simply as one of ALL the types of beers I've had, so the standouts for us were their session IPA, the Bongwater Bay, and the Tybee Vortex Blonde Ale, but all were worth drinking. They don't serve food, but there's a pizza joint below them and plenty of others around. Give them a try when you're own the Island.

Wow! Who would have guessed that a brewery would have such great food? The soft pretzel with house-made beer cheese is not to be missed. Our table ordered the pretzel, the bruschetta, and the caprese salad to share around and all were amazing! The main course sandwiches were generous and creative. The prime rib sandwich was a special treat with house smoked prime rib and a cucumber tomato salad that was light and flavorful. My son had the Thai Lettuce Chicken Naan and I am already planning that for my next visit. Everyone else at the table seemed to enjoy the house brews. I don’t drink beer so I can’t say more about the beer but the food is outstanding and the service was friendly and quick. A Tybee gem!

Back River Brewery: A Hidden Gem with Stellar Service

I recently had the pleasure of visiting Back River Brewery, and let me tell you, it was an experience worth raving about. From the moment I walked in, the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, setting the perfect tone for a relaxed evening. But what truly set this place apart was the exceptional service I received from Michael, one of the best servers I've ever encountered.

Michael was not only friendly but genuinely helpful, going above and beyond to make sure my visit was perfect. He took the time to explain the drink menu in detail, offering recommendations tailored to my preferences. It’s rare to come across someone who is so passionate about ensuring guests have a great experience, and Michael was exactly that. His warm personality and attentiveness made the night special, and it was clear that he takes great pride in his work.

Now, let’s talk about the food. The quesadilla here? Absolutely incredible. Perfectly crispy on the outside, with a generous filling that struck the right balance of cheesy goodness and fresh ingredients. It was, without a doubt, one of the best quesadillas I've ever had, pairing perfectly with their craft brews.

Back River Brewery has mastered the art of creating a laid-back, welcoming vibe with top-notch food and drink. With staff like Michael leading the charge, it’s a place you’ll want to return to again and again....
