Racist and Unprofessional Behavior
I had an extremely upsetting experience at this Peet’s Coffee location that I believe involved racist and discriminatory behavior from someone who claimed to be the manager.
I came in to get a coffee and sandwich to-go. While waiting, I politely asked an employee for the restroom code and used the bathroom briefly. When I came out and sat down for about a minute, I noticed a white male customer had picked up my coffee by mistake and returned it to the counter.
Instead of handling the situation professionally, the employee — who said he was the manager (a man wearing a black shirt and speaking with an accent) — rudely confronted me and asked, “What are you waiting for?” in an aggressive tone. When I gave my name and tried to explain, he blamed me for not picking up my order fast enough and said he had to remake it “because of me.”
Here’s the issue: Peet’s policy is that mobile and to-go orders can sit on the counter for up to 10 minutes. I was in the store for about 10 minutes total, including a short restroom break — so his anger made no sense. I followed the policy. It was another customer who picked up the wrong drink, yet this employee took his frustration out on me.
When I asked why he was angry, he became even more hostile. Another employee clearly saw me go to the restroom, yet the so-called manager acted like I had done something wrong. He never apologized and made me feel completely unwelcome.
I was the only Asian person in the store, and it was hard not to feel like I was being targeted and spoken to that way because I’m a small Asian woman. His energy was dismissive and intimidating, like he assumed I wouldn’t stand up for myself. It felt racist and personal.
This wasn’t just rude service it was discriminatory, humiliating, and unacceptable. I’ve contacted corporate, and I hope they take this seriously. No customer should be treated this way, especially when following the store’s own policies. Peet’s needs to do better.
This kind of person should not be a manager, and I truly hope Peet’s corporate takes action. If nothing is done, I will keep speaking up. Customers deserve to feel safe and respected not humiliated...
Read moreI usually go to the Fairfax location because the staff is very efficient and fast. Their cafe is a lot nicer as well. I order a large order for pick-up every friday for my meetings through the Peets coffee app. The Fairfax location had coffee boxes unavailable for a long time so I had to start going to the Tysons location. Every week there is an issue with my order at this location. Either the milk is missing, they didn't provide napkins, the baked goods were stale, or the order was not ready by pick up. I would place the order around 7am every Friday so that it's ready for a 7:15-7:20 pick-up. I expect to arrive around 7:30-7:45 just in case they need more time. Every time I have come to pick up the order, the order is STILL not ready for me to grab immediately which causes me to run late to the meetings. That is frustrating considering that parts of the order are also missing. When I come in I am not greeted or no one says thank you back after I say thank you. No one hands off the order to me by my name on the order. I usually have to look around the pick up counter and find which ones are mine while the employees are talking to each other. When I call to get a refund on the missing items, they said it's not possible unless I come in in person which is an inconvenience. This location is...

Peet’s Coffee in Vienna has been my go-to coffee spot since 2018, and it never disappoints! Located right at the heart of Vienna, directly across from Olive Garden, this place has a warm, inviting vibe that makes it perfect for a quick coffee run or a relaxed sit-down.
The staff here is always friendly and efficient, making the experience even better. The coffee options are top-notch, with a wide range of both seasonal and classic drinks. One of my absolute favorites is the Orange Coffee Mocha – it’s a seasonal item that I look forward to every year. The flavor is so unique and refreshing, it’s unlike anything I’ve tried elsewhere – definitely a must-try if you spot it on the menu!
What I also love is their selection of merchandise – from mugs to beans to brewing equipment – they have it all, and everything is high quality. The shop is well-maintained, clean, and has a calm, cozy atmosphere, which makes it a great place to read, work, or catch up with friends.
Even when I’m not in Vienna, if I’m nearby in McLean or Tysons, I make it a point to swing by. This place feels like a part of my routine and holds a nostalgic charm. If you’re in the area and enjoy great coffee with great vibes, Peet’s Coffee Vienna is a hidden gem you...
