I've been a loyal customer of Blu Cow for years, growing up in the Vail Valley and regularly bringing guests here after skiing. This place has always held special memories for me. Recently, I called to inquire about taking engagement photos here (something I've seen other couples do) and whether a photographer's permit was required. The first person who answered hung up on me. When I called back and spoke with the owner, they yelled at me, made me cry and hung up again. I was simply trying to be responsible by asking about their policies beforehand. The hostile treatment I received was shocking and completely unprofessional. As a long-time customer who has supported this business for years and recommended it to countless visitors, I'm deeply disappointed by this experience. While I have many fond memories here, this interaction has permanently changed my perception of how this establishment treats its...
Read moreVery nice place, ambiance is nice. The staff are friendly and helpful. However, my 2-Star rating is coming from the fact that the weiners in the Swiss Dog, which are made from very delicate tasting meats (veal and pork), were over shadowed by the very bitter arugula, salty mustard and the raw onion. Now, do not get me wrong, I love all these things. But these were not the links to place them on. At no time did I taste the veal and pork links. They were hidden by the intense flavors brought on by the arugula, raw onion and way too much mustard. The only redeeming quality of the dogs were the French Baguette they were served on. Outside of that, for 2 dogs, 2 lemonades, I paid almost $40 to become dehydrated and have an awful bitter aftertaste for the next hour. Would honestly...
Read moreWe were excited to try Blü Cow in Vail since we love unique, funky places. The décor was cozy and the Swiss Dog tasted good but wasn’t worth $17. Two hot chocolates and a soup brought the total to $68 — expensive but expected for a ski town.
We were told the soup would take 10 minutes, but after 30 minutes it still hadn’t come. When we politely asked for a refund, the owner came out yelling at my wife in front of everyone, insisting we hadn’t waited long and being shockingly rude. The soup finally arrived as we were leaving — decent, but not worth the price or the awful experience.
We’ve never been treated so disrespectfully at a restaurant. Overpriced food, long waits, and an aggressive owner — we won’t be back. It will be interesting how/if the owner...
