Vista Bahn Ski Rentals — Local services in Vail

Rented demo skis from Vista Bahn on 2/19/2025. The skis stuck to the snow and the I had to physically latch the bindings to my boots. Vail had received record snow and there was a lot of crud on the runs making skiing extremely challenging with the equipment provided. When I went to return the skis the response was "the snow is sticky today but the skis look good." I literally walked 5 feet away to hear the counter guy hand the skis off to another worker and tell him to take them in the back to get waxed as they are horrible. In addition, not 5 min later another person came in with the exact same complaint and got the same response. Beware!!!!!! I rented from American Ski Exchange on 2/17/25 was given an awesome pair of skis and skied under the same conditions. Lesson learned - I should have stayed with the provider I already had...

VBSR is the BEST! They are the closest shop to Gondy 1 so no lugging gear in ski boots up and down bridge street. They are full service from rentals to repair/tuning to storage. I keep my boots there and Barclay greets me by name every morning, grabs my boots and while I am putting my boots on he comes out from behind the desk, grabs my street shoes and places them on the rack for me! All things you can do yourself but this place just has a "Norm from Cheers" feel. Definitely have staff that goes above and beyond and makes you feel like a part of their family. And at the end of the day I always leave my skis with Alex to be stored so they are ready to go the next morning or give em to AJ for a quick tune! It is SO great. The staff here is very knowledgeable about the equipment and your needs ensuring you have the right stuff for your skiing. They do have for overnight storage, which made it easier. If you’re going to be going to lionshead to ski or lessons you will have to carry your stuff on a bus to the other side. I would highly recommend booking this in advance to save money as the prices on the website are already discounted making it hard to understand what the prices will be upon rental if you did not book in advance. You need time in advance to reserve in order to receive your discounted pricing by 24 hours. They are conveniently located by gondola one so you do not have to carry your gear too far.
