My wife and I came in on a Wednesday evening at about 730pm. Greeted with a delayed greeting and there was made mention I believe from the owner or manager that it was to be the last week of their business. Shocked, I asked for the individual to restate the comment and it was restated the same as what we understood the first time.
Sat down in a state of shock and empathy for a small business to close its doors, that's been active for at least 12 years as we held our wedding rehearsal dinner there over 12 years ago. We then proceeded to review the menu and decide to make it an extra special dinner as it would have been the last time to dine in the establishment ( per the manager/hosts information). The one and only server to run the dining portion was great, attention to customer service did not go unnoticed.
We have many close friends that own small businesses and restaurants in down town. We shared the news, according to what was told to us on the night of October 21st by the manager, to a restaurant that owner that night. They in turn had an employee send his wife in for a leisure lunch with the understanding your restaurant was closing as well. When in turn, they were informed the restaurant was not.
We are emailing you that the impression we received that night, will end immediate support of your restaurant and further dining experience. If you were to close that is truly unfortunate for a business to but to inform a customer upon arrival and then turns out now is not acceptable customer service. It's unfortunate as my husband and I have dined in the restaurant name since teens, held a special milestone at the establishment, and have brought many friends to the restaurant as well.
Hope your frame of mind in how and what you share with customers in the future is timely, truthful, and poised in the...
Read moreBeen here twice, once in June 2017, once in November 2017 for dinner during a business conference, I don't regret either visit. Their Cioppino is amazing!!! It was on special the first time we came(I forgot to take a picture) and my husband loved it, so did bit, but I got Puttanesca which was good, except the pasta wasn't el dente, however, the service was phoenominal, not overly attentive, but played attention and was on top not things and exceptionally friendly. It was an overall great experience, so we came back again when we had another conference.
The second time, the service wasn't quite as good sadly, the hostess/main waitress was great, but our second server, whom I believe was actually a table busser and not usually a waitress, it showed. She was serving us during the other lady's break, was grumpy, looked permanently mad, and nearly forgot or second glass of wine, I should have told the owner, he was there, but they just received a very large group(about 20 people) and did not want to distract them. The good was good, good pizza and baked zitti was good, not exceptional, but good, and a large portion size, again, pasta was not el dente, but not as overdone as it was with my Puttanesca last time.
I would definitely still come back,I would rather support this local downtown mainstay than Olive Garden any day of the week, it is a nice local spot with a warm inviting atmosphere and a very vintage feel, overall the service is above great, if slightly spotty on occasion.
Still, their prices are reasonable, the food is on the whole good, and the place has a very romantic old school ambience that you just don't find much...
Read morePerhaps my wife and I visited on an off night, as the food was lackluster at best, but it was a Friday, in the early evening. Though the service was attentive, other than drink refills being slow.
My wife ordered a margarita pizza, which was reportedly bland, and came out of the kitchen uncut - with a dull steak knife to cut it on an awkward, oblong plate. I ordered the Breaded Eggplant with pasta marinara, and I couldn't even stomach more than a couple bites of the pasta. Overcooked noodles that tasted way off. The Breaded eggplant was not pleasant either, though the most edible portion of the plate, and it got worse the closer I got to the pasta half of the plate
The Italian soda was great and refreshing, and had a really nice homemade whipped cream! When it came to desert however, we ordered the chocolate lava cake, with ice-cream, and it was not satisfying. We were given the choice between a small portion or the "share" portion, and we wanted to share, so we ordered the latter. It was a HUGE portion. 3 or 4 large scoops of ice-cream and basically a whole cake - between two people. Cake did not taste fresh, and was more like something you'd get from Jenny...
