Mr. Dewie's Cashew Creamery — Restaurant in Walnut Creek

I am so happy we stumbled across this brand-new gem in downtown Walnut Creek! Mr. Dewey’s Cashew Creamery is absolutely divine. I tried the strawberry, chocolate cookie crunch, caramel crunch, blackberry, and a couple more flavors before settling on the blackberry. My husband went with the chocolate cookie crumble and I the blackberry , and we split them in one cup. Both were incredible, but the chocolate honestly tasted like rich ganache or chocolate cake! They were the perfect pairing — I could have eaten five more scoops on the spot!

Finding a fully dairy-free creamery feels like a dream come true. My husband has an actual dairy allergy (not just lactose intolerance), so we almost never get to enjoy ice cream together unless it’s from the freezer section at Whole Foods. Having a dedicated spot we can walk into, sample flavors, and enjoy fresh scoops is such a gift, especially during summer.

The staff was warm, friendly, laidback, and welcoming, the flavors were balanced and indulgent, and the texture was creamy without being heavy. highly recommend Mr. Dewey‘s cashew based vegan ice cream! I’m so grateful to my fellow yelp elite friend Rosie P for taking me there bc I had no idea this new VEGAN ice cream existed here! Yay! 🍨🍧🍦 A fairly new addition to Walnut Creek, it’s perfect to take families, meet up with other vegans or even introduce people to how good cashew cruelty, free options can be! A perfect day would be to get a scoop or two with vegan toppings and vegan hot fudge and then go and walk it off shopping and enjoying downtown WC. We sat and talked with the owner, and I was so impressed with his depth of knowledge of all of the local Vegan businesses that we all should support, and also his knowledge of the products that he is serving he knows all of the ethical sources and make sure to even use ethical sugar NOT white sugar in his ice cream. That is a big deal and hard to find in my opinion! The flavor, such as Matcha, pumpkin and other yummy gooey flavors or are some of the best I’ve tasted! We stumbled on Mr. Dewie's Cashew Creamery last night on Bonanza Street in downtown Walnut Creek and I was so excited to see it that I went in the shop without realizing we entered a minute before their closing time of 9pm. The gentleman behind the counter was happy to serve us regardless, and gave us heaping scoops of ice cream even though we each got single scoops. The ice cream is a bit on the pricier side starting at $6 per scoop, but their ice cream is dairy-free, soy-free, and gluten-free and you wouldn't know it given how rich and creamy the ice cream is. What makes their ice cream different is that their ice cream is based on cashew milk.

As this location is new, they're still working on updating the ambiance of the store. They have multiple locations around the Bay Area so it's great to see this come to Walnut Creek. They've been open about 4 days now and I really hope they do well here considering there are multiple other ice cream shops downtown.
