Al's #1 Italian Beef — Restaurant in West Chicago Township

I expected a good experience from this place because of the "famous" name and the walls with celebrities on them. I was literally the only person in the place on a Wednesday afternoon. The cashier did not answer my question...which was "how much more is the combo fries and drink" I'm not sure if she's not able or not allowed. The menu doesn't show the price. She acted like I was taking up too much of her time and was being very rude when I was literally the only customer. The food was just ok. The meat was bland and too much bread. The wet sandwich was very dry. The spicy peppers had no flavor. The fries tasted slightly better than ok but like they were reheated in oil, soggy instead of crispy. They looked fresh cut instead of frozen. I couldn't tell the difference in taste between the beef and the sausage. The sausage was several inches shorter than the sandwich. My experience doesn't match that of the others on the walls. Waay too expensive for the food I received. I wouldn't recommend a friend to visit here and I won't return.

EDIT: full night of drenching sweats, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting. No sleep. Still continuing but I think my intestines are totally empty....

On Saturday March 9, 2019 my husband and I drove out to eat at Al's (from Cicero). In the past we had ate there. We ordered our food, nearly $40 worth for our family. I had a beef, dip, sweet. My husband had beef dip, hot. In the middle of eating both my husband and I needed to use the bathroom. Both doors are locked. I go to the register to ask for the keys. They told us, they are out of order. Both bathrooms? Um, that is against the law for them to be without a bathroom, I told her. They refused us to use any bathroom. We left and 5 hours later, only I, had become nauous and ill. I had contacted the company directly on their website and through facebook. No reply 5 days later. So here I am, posting my experience. The food was just okay, sadly. Price, normal. I hated how sick I became, I'm glad my husband didn't have the same issue. Free parking. Food is just okay (to us). We are never going back. I would have maybe posted something with more stars if the company would have contacted me back. I tried to reach out, and was ignored. Oh well. Not sure how...

It was my first time eating Al's Beef (Bad experience) Had a very negative encounter with the cashier after I had order my food I notice I had mistakenly order the wrong meal right at that instant I was paying for it I asked the cashier if it was possible to change my combo she nodded her head and said no. Now I was forced to get what I didn't want. After 20 minutes I finally got the meal that I did not want after trying Italian beef with the sausage it really was not pleasant it was dreaded with water and it was tasteless. Not just that but when I went to take a seat the floors were very dirty fries under the table straws paper laying around on the floor and just dirty napkins also on the ground this place is in Elston and Western I highly don't recommend for anyone to come here I understand that my experience won't be another one's experience but I just thought to let you know about mines be warned and if so stay away.... or try it and you will see what I'm talking about good luck. One last thing thumbs...
