Tried Pizzana for the first time in Hollywood as we were visiting from OC for the day. we saw the place in istagram which claimed to have the best Pizza in LA and decided to give it a try. I was only me and my wifey for this dinner, and we stopped by their location around 5:30 to see if it is busy and whether we needed a reservation. They told us to better reserve a spot just in case. When we showed up an hour later, we were the only patrons, but by 8PM there were a couple of other parties that came in. The location is very small. You can see their kitchen from the street. The have about 3-4 tables inside right where the kitchen is visible and where all the take out hussle happens and about 10 tables of 2 outside in an alley that has been converted to an indoor seating area, which is super dark and I guess romantic? They have seat lamps and the roof is covered but not with a real roof but you are semi warm and if it is rainy there is no danger of getting wet. Their menu is fairly simple, and it is on a paper place mat. They have a few options for starters, 4 salad options, and about a dozen pizza options. We decided to try their brussel sprouts salad (18), Chopped salad (20) and their Neo Margherita Pizza (24). Salads came out fairly quickly. I was kinda disappointed by the size given the price, but they were both tasty. The Chopped salad is light and doesnt have too much salami or cheese which is the way I like. The brussel sprout salad is mostly lettuce with grated brussel sprouts on top but has yummy pistacchios and it was a big hit with my wife. The star of the show was the Neo Margherita pizza that came out of the oven with just the right amount of chard on the crust. It is traditional nepotetan thin pizza which is really delicious. You can definitely taste the san manzano tomatoes and the fresh cheese (which they say it is imported from Italy - fior di latte)....really nice. It is a 12 inch pizza that come in 6 slices. Of course I had 4 slices and wifey had 2 LOL. If I had to pick on anything is that the crust may need a tad bit more salt and oil, as I really enjoy the crust especially the slightly chard ones, but this one was a bit too dry for me, so I have to transfer some of the sauce from the main slice on it to make it edible. Overall great food, seems like most of their business is take out...
Read moreIf your priority is take-out orders, don't have a sit down restaurant. What is the point of making a reservation if you don't honor it? We showed up on time but they didn't have a table for us, yet another group that came in after us was seated immediately and there were empty tables that were not offered to us.
We waited 15 minutes to just be seated in the take-out area. The hostess asked us to wait for someone picking up a take-out order who was seated a table. After that person received their order, they started eating the food from their to-go boxes. The hostess knew this but said nothing. They should've kindly asked them to leave since they knew we were waiting for that table. Instead we had to awkwardly wait as they ate one slice from each of their 3 pizzas.
After we sat down, nobody attended to us. No water or greeting or anything. Everybody was just focused on those take-out orders and the other side of the restaurant. So we left.
Normally I'm understanding when a restaurant is busy but when my wife and I are not even acknowledged and we see a whole other section of the restaurant eating and being attended to, it makes us feel unwelcome. This was our first experience and we won't be coming back.

Read moreI love Pizzana! As a New York transplant I love the style of pizza they do here. Authentic Naples! Wood fired, local ingredients with seasonal specials and the staff is fabulous!
I visited twice in the last month and enjoyed both visits; my recent solo lunchtime visit was one of my best solo experiences. I eat solo frequently and really like the option of counter seating or bar seating. At Pizzana West Hollywood you can watch the pizza's being made while you sip your wine or eat your delicious salad.
I ordered Pizzana's version of a meat lovers pizza; it had sausage, pepperoni, cured meat, cheese, basil and delicious tomato sauce. I am gluten sensitive but not allergic so for my first visit I did eat their traditional crust but on my recent visit I tried the GF crust....oh my goodness...SO good!! It is slightly chewier than the wheat crust and I liked it better...which never happens with gluten free offerings IMHO.
I also had the shaved Brussels sprouts salad with apple and pistachio. Dressing was perfect...light and slightly sweet.
I recommend this for anyone who loves the traditional, true Naples style pizza and anyone who just loves good food...
