We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day date night at Catch. The restaurant is so gorgeous. Our server, Stephanie, was so friendly and nice. She really helped make our night special.
The menu is set for Valentine’s Day, but you have the option of adding on premium items. We opted for the Roasted King Crab (recommended by Stephanie), and it was the best decision we made all night! The crab was cooked perfectly and flakey with a delicious yuzu soy glaze. I mean just look at that creamy orange color - anything with a sauce that color is guaranteed to be delicious. Catch staples such as the Catch Roll and the Crunchy Rice Cakes were also included.
I loved everything in the first course. Catch always shines with seafood. The Catch Roll, of course, always hits. The crab tastes so fresh and the salmon has an enticing smokey touch after being seared table side. The Pacific Hamachi Crudo was fresh and fun- the pineapple added a bright, refreshing element. And the Madai Ceviche was also really good. I might even say that the first course was my favorite.
The second course was ok - definitely my least favorite just because everything else was so good. The crunchy rice cakes were the winner for me here, but everything else from the wedge salad to the crispy shrimp felt lackluster.
The third course was great. Miso Sea Bass was delicious - I love anything with a sweet glaze. The Roasted King Crab definitely was the star of the show for me. The Dry Aged New York Strip had a great crust and was so tender. Spicy Gigli was alright but was outshined by all the other heavy hitters. The waffle fries… yeah they were good but I thought it was so funny they were given their own spot on the menu hahaha
For dessert, the pistachio cheesecake bites were horrible. I actually saw the table next to us leave two pieces on their plate (there were 4 total). Initially, I thought it was wasteful, but when I tried them myself, I understood. They are so gross lol. The savory pistachio flavor along with the dense, nutty texture with little pieces of nut inside… it was not Catch’s best look in my opinion. Luckily, the Red Velvet “Hit Me” Cake, was so good it outshined the looming dark shadow cast by the Pistachio Cheesecake Bites. The strawberry ice cream added a tartness that cut through the rich chocolate - I actually prefer it to Catch’s regular “Hit Me” cake.
This experience was definitely pricey, but I feel like we got what we paid for. Our meal was delicious and our evening...
Read more’ve had lovely experiences at Catch NY and Catch Las Vegas, so I was genuinely looking forward to visiting Catch LA. While the food and ambiance were both strong, a series of service-related missteps unfortunately added up to a mediocre experience overall. We went for a family dinner to celebrate a birthday and encountered several issues right from the start. We had called in advance to ask about bringing our own wine (with a corkage fee) and were told it wasn't allowed. Fair enough—but as we were being seated, we witnessed a heater being moved from our table to another, blocking the passageway in the process. When we asked for another heater to replace the one taken, we were told heaters couldn’t be moved from their designated zones. What made this frustrating was seeing a guest slip the waiter cash right after the heater was relocated to their table—clearly showing that flexibility exists, just not for everyone. We were a party of 10 but felt crammed into a tight, uncomfortable space with poor table layout—awkward corners and not enough room for the dishes we ordered. Our plan was to start with a few appetizers while figuring out the rest of our order, but we were told the full order had to go in at once. That policy felt unnecessarily rigid and not in line with good hospitality. During dinner, our server accidentally spilled a drink all over the table and floor. While he did apologize, it was brief and without much acknowledgment of the inconvenience. We weren’t offered anything as a courtesy, even though it soaked some of us and left the floor slippery. When I asked if they offered a complimentary birthday dessert, I was told no—but we could order one and they’d add a candle. We did, along with coffee, but there was a noticeable delay between when each arrived. Once the desserts were finally served, we were repeatedly asked if the dishes could be cleared—despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. I understand it was close to closing, but it felt rushed and borderline pushy. All in all, while the food was enjoyable and the setting is undeniably beautiful, the service and lack of flexibility really detracted from what should have been a celebratory evening. If you’re going solely for the food and ambiance, it might still be worth visiting—but if you value warm, attentive service, Catch LA...
Read moreI had the pleasure of dining at Catch recently, and it was an exquisite dinner experience. Not only was the food outstanding, but the stunning view added an extra touch of magic to the evening.
To start, I indulged in the truffle sashimi, and it was an absolute delight. The freshness of the fish combined with the delicate truffle flavor created a harmonious balance of taste. It was a true feast for the senses.
The Catch roll and MRC roll were both culinary masterpieces. Each bite was bursting with flavor, as the expertly crafted rolls showcased a perfect fusion of ingredients. The combination of textures and the playfulness of the flavors made these rolls stand out, leaving me craving more.
And let's not forget the Parmesan truffle fries! These crispy golden delights were the epitome of decadence. The aromatic truffle and the rich Parmesan cheese elevated the humble fries to a gourmet treat that I couldn't get enough of.
Now, let's talk about the view. It was nothing short of breathtaking. The restaurant's strategic location provided a panoramic backdrop that enhanced the dining experience. As I enjoyed my meal, I was captivated by the stunning sights before me, creating a truly memorable ambiance.
I must also mention the Lobster Mac and Cheese at Catch, as it was an absolute standout.
