Del Taco — Restaurant in West Valley City

I’m not usually one to write a bad review, but I had a particularly poor experience at this location. The cashier took four coupons that we had just received in the mail. She seemed to run them and then handed them back to us, giving us a total that was much higher than it should have been. We asked if she ran them, and only then did she tell us that the system didn’t let her and she didn’t know why. I’ve been in customer service for several years, and this is when you call a manager to put a coupon through. You don’t just hand back $8 worth of coupons and not explain anything. We finally gave up on putting them through. Then, we realized we were missing a small fry. Both the cashier and the manager spent several minutes arguing with us insisting that it was in the bag. It wasn’t. Finally, we handed them the bag and asked them to show us where. They closed the window, finally handed us a small fry, and sent us on our way with no apology. On top of that, all of our food was cold when they handed it to us. I don’t know what is going on there and I know the people cashiering are mostly teenagers, but at least the supervisor should have had basic customer service skills . It was like 3 in the morning & I was looking for an open place to eat. I was surprised when I moved here to West Valley that there is practically nothing open for the Graveyard shift. I drove west on 3500 S to 5600 W. I turned right heading towards I/215. Looking from side to side as I'm driving for someplace to get some fast food. I see a Del Taco on the East side of the road & obviously open for business. Here's the funny part. I pull into the shopping center off the road. As I am pulling around into the parking lot what do I see ❓There are 2 West Valley police cars sitting in the lot. I realize you can't go inside to eat. I pull up through the Drive -thru and order a pretty large meal. As I am pulling back around to the front of the store, the cops are gone. I suddenly decided I was too hungry to wait till I got back to my place & I parked my car. Turns out I wasn't just a little hungry I was very hungry & I ate all that I purchased. I was planning on taking some of it home. All was well, I got the Fast Food that I require on a daily basis. The food was good. And now I know that Del Taco is open all night. I was there around 11:40pm so it was night shift. I pulled up to the drive thru and sat there for a good minute before I had to get his attention through the mic. As I was ordering the employee taking my order had an attitude already, saying “k” after everything I say. When we pulled up he gave me a small drink when I ordered a large, I told him and he gave me attitude and gestured his hand to give him the drink and didn’t say anything. Watching him make our order he had no gloves on touching everything from the counters, the shake maker, the tablet, etc. He then gets one of the containers for the fries and sticks his whole hand in there and I was just disgusted. As he finishes our order he sets it aside by the window instead of giving it us. If that wasn’t enough, he also got our order wrong giving us Birria tacos instead of the cheesecake bites that we ordered. I don’t know if he had a long day or just making his job harder but there was no reason for all that attitude and pettiness.
