I ordered online and walked in to pick it up. The guy was extremely cheerful and nice. I honestly didn't know what to expect. I was very impressed. I got a combination of teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, and Kalua pig. I'm pretty sure there was over a pound and a half of meat. It was all placed on top of raw cabbage, which sort of soaked up some of the drippings from the meat and became very delicious. It was served with plain white rice and a salad, which was good. I got teriyaki and spicy mayo sauces. The spicy mayo was particularly good (on everything). I just barely finished it, and I'm writing this review in a bit of a bother since I can barely breathe. I'd definitely go here again. The teriyaki beef was my least favorite item, but it was still good. The chicken was perfect, and the pork was smokey and juicy. There is a great amount of food for the price, and I would plan on leftovers. I wish I had. Overall, quite a unique and delicious place!

Update: Yesterday I was craving something but not quite sure what it was, so we settled on Mo Bettahs (it’s been a while, I’ve been protesting going back after last of many disappointments) I will admit, it HIT the spot. My wife ordered the Big Boy with a Teri steak and I did a mixture of Katsu and steak. Much better on taste, portions of steak seem smaller with that 1.99 extra charge per serving (x4 for our two plates) but it was delicious and worth giving them another go. Came early knowing food would be fresh. Was waiting for our Mo Bettahs teri beef cheat meal. (Big Boy Plate) We get home and took a bite and steak is fridge cold tasting. Thinking it’s because it was on the Mac salad so take another bite and cold. I ended up having to warm up my plate. Disappointed in their normally quality food to tasting like I’m getting last nights batch that wasn’t quite heated up yet.

I've eaten at Mo Bettahs multiple times. This was the first time at this specific location. It's not super close to my house, but I had stopped in from a long drive home to grab take out. The line was a bit long but they seemed to move by fairly quick comparatively. When it was my turn, I asked for teriyaki steak and teriyaki chicken. I was told that they didn't have steak at the moment. I asked how long it would be and they said about 5 minutes. I wanted to wait for it. So I stepped aside the line to wait. When they called my name saying they had my food ready, they bagged it up and I went on my way. Disappointment hit when I got home and had no chicken in my meal. It wasn't close enough to justify going back especially after I had been traveling all day. What I did get to eat was good. Especially that mac salad. Man it's tasty.

Update - 7/14/2021 Been meaning to update my review. Been back and all has returned to normal since that bad night. Food is still great. Service has gotten so much better. Place has always been clean. 👏🏽👍🏽

Came in and ordered 3 regulars and 1 ekolu. I watched the server dish my ekolu - flawless! When it came to my regulars I kept it simple and told him they would all be the same items. When I chose katsu chicken, he said there would be a 5 minute wait - No Problem! So I stood off to the side to allow others in line to continue as they might be able to get what they want and be on their way - of course with the exception of Katsu chicken. I believe he was the manager who came out to me with a piece of paper and a pencil and asked for me to confirm my regulars. I watched him write it down and he replied “we will get your order done.” I replied with a thank you and a smile. When they came to the register with my plates I opened each of them up as they were ringing them up to make sure they were complete. EVERY👏🏽SINGLE👏🏽PLATE👏🏽WAS👏🏽WRONG👏🏽 I stood there like 😳😳😳😳. I said “All of these are wrong.” The guy replied “Oh I’m sorry - what was your order?” I said (as i pointed to the guy) - he wrote it down and I watched him. My order was WRITTEN DOWN. On top of that - where did the “flawless” ekolu plate go? 🤦🏽‍♀️ I watched him plate it all way to completion. The ekolu I ordered was white rice only, Teri steak and double katsu... this ekolu plate had their green lettuce, Mac salad, kalua pork and Teri chicken - completely different. I get that mistakes happen and sure, maybe my ekolu got switched with another’s, but when your paying $100.00 for you family to eat - i sure hope I’m catering to their taste. (We don’t do kalua pork. That’s just us.) It’s been a long week remodeling our home and when it comes down to “we are hungry” mo bettahs is my go to. Taste is never a question. But the service that has been running their lately does not make me feel mo bettah. 😞 Guess we will have to check out lnls or island grinds now cause this poly family - eats like a poly family. Mahalo to mo bettahs,...

They need to get Mo' Bettah at seasoning the food.

They do have one strong selling point. Their teri and yeobo sauces pack a punch! Dip a little bit of meat in one, take a bite, and enjoy a concentrated collaboration of sweet and tangy flavors.

And that's it.

Both the Pulehu chicken and Kaula pig were cooked well. The pig was about average as far as pork goes. It was quite juicy, but its overall flavor was somewhat underwhelming. The chicken was easy to pull apart and had good texture. However, it was just a smidge dry and quite bland! If they put any seasoning on it besides salt and pepper, then maybe, just maybe there was a smidgeon of garlic and chili.

The white rice was cooked with the right amount of water, but otherwise, it was just white rice.

Now the veggies... I took one star off for this! They were a soft, soggy, sad, spiritless pile of overcooked MUSH in the takeout box! They would have been gag-worthy if I wasn't so hungry! I find it hard to believe they were seasoned with anything else other than some saltwater because they were BLAND! I expect an established chain like Mo' Bettahs to do a little bit of vegetable magic, but I can make better veggies at home with an air fryer, some actual seasoning, and 20 minutes.

The price you pay for the portions you get is pretty generous, but for the quality, I'd rather go eat In & Out.

If you made it to the end of this review, I suggest "Taste of the Caribbean" for a flavor trip to tropical islands, but of the...

I have been here more times than I can count and have always been relatively pleased. This evenings (7/27) experience will have me and my family going elsewhere as there are plenty of other options in very close proximity. We waited 56 minutes after ordering, and asked multiple times during that 56 mins how much longer it would be. Each time they kept saying "it's almost done" after nearly an hour, and asking again they said it will be around 20 mins. I, as well as two other patrons ultimately asked for a refund. The employees could care less about the business and didn't offer an apology or any empathy. Zero customer service, which is unfortunate. I realize me taking my 4-5 visits a month ($150) is likely a drop in the bucket, but hopefully the owners will take note and see the loyal business they are losing and train their staff to set expectations with timing and do better with customer service. It is unfortunate, but I let my money speak for my satisfaction. On to...
