Read moreGreat food at very reasonable prices! It's a nice, relaxed restaurant with comfort food that actually tastes great. Almost everything is homemade in the restaurant. Do yourself a favor and save room for the boysenberry cheesecake!! It isn't just freshly made cheesecake with a boysenberry sauce on top; the boysenberries are actually made into the cheesecake. It is delicious and honestly one of the best desserts I've ever had! The bar or saloon area is open in the back of the restaurant, which isn't usually a problem, but the noise does carry if someone is drunk and loud. While we were there during the last week of January, my wife and I were enjoying dinner only to have to listen to a loud, obnoxious drunk (and seemed like he was on other stuff too) yelling, laughing very loudly and dropping a lot of F-bombs; based on overhearing the employees, he actually works there! I cannot imagine why they would let someone like that work there...maybe the owner's son or something. Finally, our server went over and said something to him as no one else did, including the bartender. I have no idea what she said, but he soon staggered up to the front, talked with the servers for a while and then staggered out through the kitchen. I deducted a star for that. There were only three couples in the reataurant area including us, so maybe that is why we could hear so much. I did overhear one server (male) tell another (female) that he is always like that and the male server has to deal with the drunk employee opening his door and screaming regularly, so I guess they are neighbors. Before the drunk came in and after he left, the place is awesome, especially for the cost! Next time we are there, we will definitely return and I do recommend it, but with warning that if you are sensitive to cussing or take children and are sensitive to them hearing it, be prepared to complain, particularly if the drunk "worker bee" (as the described by the bartender) is there. Check out the train that runs along the top of the restaurant. Lastly- don't forget the...
Read moreCame here while visiting Yellowstone. Prices are spendy but it's a more upscale restaurant.
3 stars because they missed order notes, no bread on the table, despite butter and bread plates, and few other things detailed below.
I ordered a beer, it came in a can and was $5.77 for a small can. Seems way too overpriced. The other reason is they added a $3.70 credit card fee. This is just unacceptable in my opinion. I'd rather not see that charge and pay a little more on each item vs a credit card fee. It may seem silly but it bothers me greatly when restaurants do this. Part of doing business is accepting payment.
Feels like a tourist trap.
Here's my review on food...
I ordered the buffalo tomahawk, asked for mashed potatoes with no gravy, but came out with gravy. I also asked for steak to be medium, but it came out more towards well done with no pink in the middle. It tasted good, but would have been a juicer and way better if cooked properly. Especially for the price.
I got the shrimp added as a side to the steak and honestly it was my favorite food on the table.
We also ordered a side of potato wedges and cheese curds. My wife's favorite was the potato wedges. The cheese curds were good and came with a nice huckleberry sauce.
Now this is another reason why I leave 3 stars here... The huckleberry sauce came with a nice sauce container... The potato wedges came with sour cream in a prepackaged container on my plate. Give us the experience and use sour cream in one of those containers that the huckleberry sauce came in for the price.
Feel same aspect on the cocktail sauce that came in a cheap plastic container vs a nice one. Consistency is key expecially if your running a upscale restaurant based on the atmosphere and seating. Look at the photos.
There are a few other things but I feel like I may be getting petty on some aspects.
Overall the food was good, service was good, but for price I'd rather go back to the Mexican food bus down the road. Food was just as tasty and a fraction...
