After the genuinely abhorrent food at Musta Asian and being from California I was not expecting much, but wow!
Let me be clear, the food isn't world shattering but it is miles better than pretty much all of the food in west Yellowstone.
It is family owned and run, with a homely vibe and indoor bus seating to enjoy. The kitchen is small and it's pretty transparent they use premade chips and tortillas. This aesthetic and cramped kitchen would usually come at the expense of the food being not great but I am so happy it was not in this case! Every single ingredient besides the tortillas, chips and lettuce was bursting with wonderful and authentic flavor, which even as a California native used to great Mexican food still stood up on its own.
Being a pretty picky eater myself they will make almost anything out of the ingredients they have, you could probably turn a carmones rancheros into a cheese quesadilla if you tried hard enough.
I was not expecting much and was pretty blown away by how great it is for the area. It's also so cheap in comparison it makes some other places look criminal. Just over 20$ for 2 huge full meals for 3 people
It is must try if you have not had great Mexican food before and a great restaurant even if you have as it's my favorite food place in all of west...
Read moreA friend recommended La Jungla after saying they eat here whenever they’re in town.
So so good…
Pollo a La Diabla was top notch, and with the little note to say it was “hot”, it most certainly was! Super tasty, and it left a nice warming chilli burn for a while after. Served with corn tortillas, a side of refried beans, spicy rice and a little salad. I’d read some complaints about portion size being small, but I actually left some and tapped out! Honestly, this was a phenomenal dish.
Camarones al ajo was the other dish we had, and similar to above everything was just beautiful. Prawns in this dish were so soft and tasty, and everything just came together brilliantly.
We had a nachos “side” as well, with shredded steak on top, but had to give up in the end… it was like a bottomless pile of food.
Service was great, and I wish we had a few more places like this back home.
Pricing was fine too, and no complaints there at all.
Had a great chat with Alberto about soccer too.

Read moreLa Jungla is a cute food truck just out side of Yellowstone National Park. They serve everything from tacos to ceviche all Mexican staples . La Jungla’s service was very fast and the servers were kind but the service was nothing special. The ambiance was quite cute with an indoor seating in the food truck which was so cute and lots of tables for seating outside of the restaraunt. They had a concise menu where I ordered the pastor, picadillo, and pollo tacos. I got the taco plate so the tacos came with rice and beans. Overall it was an ok dish. The tacos were tasty, but the meat was quite dry and the portions weren’t to my liking. The rice and beans were also ok. The pricing was quite affordable so if you want a quick spot to eat right after coming from Yellowstone this would be a good place to eat, but otherwise I wouldn’t recommend La...
