I came here for the first time tonight with my best friend since it was her birthday and she invited me to come. I was honestly really excited when she asked me to go because I've never been here and I wanted to try it since I've heard that this place is supposedly amazing.
Let's just say I had the biggest disappointment in my whole life.
When we first walked in, the hostesses at the front looked at me like I was homeless! Yeah sure, I didn't look my best because I came from a pumpkin patch and it's the weekend for god's sake! (I also have acne prone skin genetically) Anyway I let that slide, even thought it throughly upset me.
When we got to our table, the hostess gave us chips and dipping sauce which I always thought the person serving us did, but I didn't object to it. My best friend's uncle had a question about one item on the menu and asked about it. The girl had the nerve to just ignore him and walk away! That's flat out rude.
Our server came and saw that we had chips and dip, and rudely asked if we demanded it right away, not letting him do his job. Ummmm. Let's see, the hostess brought it out saying that you were busy. Yeah. That's totally demanding it. Anyway you asked what we wanted for drinks and went and got them. Four minutes later the drinks arrive. My best friend's mom asked for water and no ice and lemon. What do you give her? Water with ice AND lemon. She politely asked him to take it back since she asked for something else and you rudely kinda snapped at her and practically ripped it out of her hand.
You came back and gave her the right thing and gave her the look of are you happy now? What in the actual world? Then you ask if we're ready for food. I am the one that said I'm not ready, but you went on with taking our order. I politely say that I am still deliberating on what to order since I'm a very picky eater. You tell me that you didn't care since you had a job to work and that I needed to hurry and get something that I wouldn't eat because you had to go to the table across from us to go talk to them since they were your "buddies". I told him that I hadn't been here before and it was the first time that I was seeing the menu. Again he said he didn't care.
Out of frustration, I got the chicken enchiladas. My best friend's uncle asked how long the food would take to get to us, and the server said about 20-50 minutes...what????? That's a long time!
45 minutes later our food comes out. I saw sides I didn't ask for, and I had 3 enchiladas instead of 2. I told our server I asked for 2 and he rudely took one of them and gave it to the lady who also worked there and I heard her say that she was going to throw it in the trash. You do not waste food! Never!
I started eating, and I noticed that the enchilada was really dry and the chicken tasted very bland. Also the enchilada was put together half assed. I ate it though since I was hungry and didn't want to look rude. After a little bit, the manager came over to us and asked how the food was. I told her I wasn't pleased with it and the service we got and she just completely walked away. Then our server came back and picked up our plates (which were really hot when they first came out) since we were done and said "Please don't forget to tip me since your paying with your card"
I was genuinely baffled. My best friend's mom did tip him, it was only 5%. Never coming back here again. Please do not spend your money here! I would rather go to Chipotle and eat there. I don't really like Chipotle, but I'll take it...
Read moreI was Very Disappointed in our experience today, especially for $10+ a plate for lunch or $20+ for dinner. At first I was excited because the interior seemed to be Beautifully decorated but at closer inspection I noticed huge cobwebs covering the fake trees and flowers that could easily end up in guests food. As we waited for our server to bring us our chips and salsa I noticed immediately food under the table. When I mentioned it to the hostess she seemed a bit irritated to sweep it up so I apologized for being nit picky and she said it was no problem so maybe I was imagining the lack of pride and cleanliness. We sat there waiting for about 5 minutes before our server showed up to take our drink orders. At this point we still didn't have our chips and salsa. As we were waiting I noticed a receipt fall to the floor right in front of the service area. I didn't say anything but I kept noticing it was still on the floor during our entire meal. I got the chili rellano with a chicken enchilada and my husband got the burrito and taco lunch item. Finally our drinks came out with our chips and salsa. We didn't have to wait to long for our food but if you only have 30 minutes for lunch you should definitely Not go here. My chili rellano was ok but the beef was a little chewy but when I took a bite of the enchilada I immediately noticed it just didn't taste quite right. I decided maybe it was just my taste buds. But then I started sipping on my strawberry lemonade and I noticed it barely had Any flavor of strawberry or lemonade. I didn't want to say anything because I felt embarrassed. Just as my husband finished he looked down and found a hair stuck in the cheese sauce on his plate. Immediately I felt queasy. It took another 5 minutes to get the attention of our server. She immediately removed the plate and said she would talk to the manager. I kept waiting for the manager to come talk to us but he or she never bothered with speaking to us. So when our server brought back the ticket and said the manager removed my husband's meal I let her know that we appreciated that but I also pointed out All the issues I had seen since we had been sitting there for an hour. The nasty dusty trees & flowers, receipt on the floor, food under the table, & the disappointing flavor of the lemonade & enchilada. I don't know if we'll be going here again, especially after I had told my husband how delicious the food was. Again thoroughly Disappointed in the taste, cleanliness, & manager not bothering to come talk to us. Update: Not surprising that a manager still hasn't responded to my review. Considering that my reviews of local restaurants and other establishments have been viewed over 30,000 times you would hope that a bad review would be...
Read moreI find that I really must register a complaint with you. Last night we visited your establishment for the first time. The Abuelo’s on the east side is one of our favorite restaurants, and we assumed yours would be just as wonderful. How could we be so wrong?
My husband and I both ordered, as ever, the veggie fajita. We both substituted the rice that comes with it for black beans and both ordered black beans as the two sides; that would give us each three little bowls of black beans. We’re both vegetarians for health reasons, and the beans would be our only protein for the meal; so they were relatively important to us. The server took the order and AGREED TO THE SUBSTITUTION. But when another person brought out the meals, we each got only two bowls. When I asked where the other bowls were, she insisted that fajitas only come with two sides, and we couldn’t have the third bowl of beans. She wouldn’t listen to my explanation and insisted repeatedly that I was wrong. She then enlisted the support of our original server as well as another, and all three demanded that I was wrong and refused to bring out the missing beans. If these three individuals would've tossed even a cursory glance at your menu, they would have discovered that VEGGIE fajitas come with rice and two sides while the other kinds of fajitas do not. I can’t emphasize strongly enough how embarrassing it was to be ganged up on like that and to find myself in the middle of an argument about something so absurd and trivial as two miniature bowls of legumes—in front of our special out-of-town guests. It made the whole evening unpleasant and disgusting; your servers ruined it for me.
And for our special dinner, we had a majestic panoramic view of the kitchen doors swinging back and forth with servers lugging food out on enormous trays while we tried to catch up on a year’s worth of life with our guests. The distraction of that view was ridiculous.
We will not be returning to...
