Golden Corral Buffet & Grill — Restaurant in Wichita

Went to this place that used to be a restaurant for my birthday 8/19. I wish I was being bitter. I wish something had happened to really anger me. Because then the restaurant at 616 Ridge Rd Wichita could just say I was disgruntled. Unfortunately this isn't the case. Unfortunately I am just being perfectly honest.

For starters. The person who greets you and takes your hard earned money was exceptionally rude. I asked questions about the price. Wasn't trying to get a discount or argue. Just wanted to know where all the cost went. She ignored me. I sit down at me and my gf table and waited for our server to take our drink order. Right about the time I was convinced the staff had went on vacation she showed up. My first plate was what I had been excited for all day...Bourbon Chicken and rolls. Without trying to sound like I'm exaggerating the roll was so hard and had been left out for so long that I asked my girlfriend if she could tear it in half. She actually couldn't. Strike one. Then I took a big ol fork full of what they were saying was Bourbon Chicken. The salt was so heavy that I had to spit it out. I tried the cornbread. Same story as the roll. I had a hard time cutting it even with a knife. Strike 2. And Strike 3 should be a cautionary tale about listening to your instincts. If you ever feel like a restaurant might make you sick..."listen to your heart"!!!. It is now Aug 20th and I still haven't stopped having diarrhea. If this place offered some form of value, like a McDonald's or other fast food, I would say hey at least it's cheap. But it's not. They charge premium prices for the right to sit on a toilet for literal days. I stopped wondering if management at restaurants like this had shame because they would gladly take my money today. And in case you may have thought this was an isolated incident. Go into the men's bathroom and look at the diarrhea stained toilet seat from the last customer...

Sad to say but the last 2 times I have been here the food was really terrible. Many food items were out and with employees walking around and talking with each other, instead of doing their job. The guy that cooks on the grill was spending more time on his phone than anything else. What appeared to be a manager was talking to him and it looked like she was discussing with him about his phone. But that didn't help at all. I started taking photos with my phone and when the workers noticed me they all started working again and items started being filled up again. There was not that many people in the restaurant and they had the 2 end sections of the restaurant closed off. It was around 6:30pm. Instead of making fresh food to replace the food on the line that had been there for who knows how long. They would put a clean empty pan in and dump the older food into the clean pan. I'm not sure why they would do this other than to possibly make it look like they were putting out a fresh product. They didn't add anything to it once they swapped pans out. The pans they swapped out were clean already so why do the pan swap thing. And Yes I spoke to my waitress about it as I handed her my tip and I explained to her that she was doing a great job and she should not be punished for her coworkers bad work habits. As I left I really wanted to tell others coming in to not eat there. But I didn't, I still don't know if that was the right move. YES , I spent the next day in the bathroom. Poor customer service on the latest visit had 2 coupons for free child meal with an adult present. Despite there being two adults they only gave one child meal free so we got charged for a child that we should not have been. The cashier said she would not charge us on two children with us having two coupons she did not honor her word.

So to start off with experience was not that great since we were over charged. Second the hostess/waitress whatever preferred title y'all use did not ask us if anyone needed any beverage refills. With a decent sized family group of 7 we had quite a lot of plates neatly stacked up that took a considerable amount of time to be collected. - I myself was on my 5th plate before any plates got collected.

Golden Coral I think has gone downhill considerably in the food quality per dollar along with the customer service. Will we return most likely not except maybe just maybe if we are pretty much kid free for Thanksgiving.

Beverages are definitely over priced seriously almost $4 for soda/juice and I we all only got 1 glass full because they never asked/came to refill the drinks...

Taco meat has never been good, id rather have taco meat from a school, hell prison/jail taco meat probably taste better than golden corals taco meat... At least it's edible about the only positive thing the taco meat has going for it.
