This was my first time at George’s but my parents come here all the time. The food was good (as my parents have experienced in the past), but the service was not. We arrived a little before 2 pm and lunch closing is 3 pm; so well within the lunch time. We sat outside. We ordered our meal and were served promptly. As we started eating, the restaurant staff started setting up tables and cleaning around us (2:15pm-2:40pm). This was not a simple setup. The person cleaning was sweeping loudly under every table around and right next to us, raising a lot of dust, and slamming the metal chairs loudly. The staff bringing out fresh plates were clanking and banging too. It made us feel rushed and unwelcomed (we left at 2:40pm). We kindly brought this up to the staff’s attention, and we were told that there was no manager onsite and that they were trying to get a head start on the evening rush. I understand the need to prepare for the evening rush, but this was completely intrusive and disrespectful, not an enjoyable atmosphere or experience in dining. We could not even have a conversation with each other. George’s (Wildwood Crest location) definitely gets a zero for hospitality. My parents who are regular customers of this location will no longer eat here and instead go to the Cape May Courthouse location. We also have seasonal vacation properties and we will share this bad experience with our renters and will not recommend...
Read moreWe decided to try George's place for dinner because it was on the water and fairly close to our hotel. I personally was not sure I was up for Greek/Mediterranean food but I went along with it. Let me tell you, I am sure glad I did. I had short ribs, my wife had fish and my daughter and mother in law had Chicken. It was absolutely phenomenal. In our opinion, this ranks very high in the "best meal" category, and we travel the country and throughout Europe quite often. The staff is equally awesome. Katarina was so great. She immediately treated us like family, made great recommdations and was very attentive. So, what's next? We loved it so much, we had to go back for breakfast. Again, not a disappointment. The menu is full of both sweet and savory options. I opted for the Crab Benedict, my wife for an omelet, our daughter got the Tiramisu and mother in law got banana french toast. All outstanding. I can't say enough good things about both the quality and presentation of the food and the outstanding staff. For our family to be on vacation and go to the same place twice instead of exploring new places, you know it had to be good. This is our go to place in...
Read moreAmbiance is nice and our waitress was very friendly . They don’t tell you it’s cash only and it’s not listed anywhere so be prepared. Food was very disappointing and not authentic, not to mention highly priced. I ordered grilled octopus from their appetizer and in the picture below you can see it’s not grilled octopus but just bits of Octopus with majority of it being chickpeas. On the menu however it says just grilled octopus. When I brought it to the attention of the waitress and management, the gentleman stated it was octopus salad. I explained that it did not state it was octopus salad on the menu, had it listed that I would’ve not have ordered it. Nothing was done to accommodate me and I was still charged for a dish I was not able to eat. My husband’s salmon was very bland and had no flavor and it did not taste fresh. Overall I will not be coming back to this place I will most likely go to the fish market nearby which. The location of this restaurant is very nice but the food and the management...
