Background- My wife and I grew up in the restaurant / bar business in the area and worked double shifts as waiters, kitchen staff, and bar tenders all through our teens and 20’s…and into my early 30’s. We travel quite a bit and enjoy dining experiences. I’m an adventurous eater surrounded by my family of “pick eaters”….like…super picky. So our needs at a dining spot are broad when we dine out.
First- the service (doing this before food because this has been a differentiator for me at this spot) we’ve experienced has been consistently amazing! We’ve been there several times this summer and had the same server (Kelly) a couple times…we sat at bars a couple times too, and was pleased with speed and quality of cocktails.
Kelly is fantastic. Recommendations were spot on, our picky eater side of the table actually tried some new stuff. Such a bright and cheerful person, and we had her running all over for a large party each time we were seated…to be honest…she’s a big reason we have gone back when we want to bring our large family and friends to enjoy a great, casually-smart, dinner experience.
Second- the vibe of this place is fantastic- open “beach bar” option outside as well as a new/clean/upscale-casual vibe inside. The bar area is a good size and plenty of seating at tables for a family of 6+. The larger tables are a bit squeezed together inside, but manageable. The wait staff has some navigating to do, and they seem to move around just fine without knocking into the guests.
Third- the food is consistently delish. Some new places try too hard with their menu options and wind up with some hits and misses, but this place had a good variety without going too extreme. The pizzas are fantastic! Try the pizzas- artisanal style and delish. We tried a number of them this summer and they’re all great. Dave Portnoy would compliment their crust and “under carriage” as its crispy with a good flop factor. Meatballs and deviled eggs are solid…eggs rate higher for me, but the balls are good. Potstickers are your average potsticker…hits the mark just fine. My family LOVES the chix parm, and I went back to the tacos a couple times to share with others…they are on the small side which is why I like them as a shareable app. Great taste and not too over loaded with creamy sauces…which a lot of places in the area do for some reason…in my opinion. The salads are great too…I’ve had their house salad a couple times and loved their dressing. Consistent!
Give this place a try if you haven’t already. Grab an orange crush, ask for Kelly, and try the menu….it’ll become a regular spot on your list for sure…it...
Read moreWe came here for brunch with our family and kids while visiting friends who live in the area and always speak highly of this place—especially for dinner. Sadly, our brunch experience was so bad, we’re still upset about it.
From the moment we were seated, our server was impatient, short with us, and made us feel like a burden. We ordered for the kids first, and after that, he vanished. When we asked another staff member to send him back so we could place the rest of our order, he returned only to roll his eyes at us. Completely unprofessional.
He never checked in on us, and several of our food orders were wrong—including my daughter’s, which took forever to fix. When we asked for two simple sunnyside-up eggs, it took 35 minutes for them to arrive. Just as they were placed on the table, a fly landed right in them. At that point, we were completely fed up.
We went to speak with the manager, hoping someone would take ownership of how poorly things were handled. Instead, the manager defended the kitchen and told us our server was “usually one of the best,” without ever offering a real apology or any gesture to make things right.
To make matters worse, the server still brought us the check—no acknowledgment, no apology—and the manager never came over in person again. My husband had to go inside just to ask that they remove the automatic gratuity, which they did, but that was it. No apology. No accountability. Just a swipe and goodbye.
We understand that things go wrong sometimes, but this was just appalling. Poor service, long waits, food mishandled, zero hospitality. We came expecting a lovely family brunch and left completely disappointed and disrespected. We will not...
