I want to make it very clear, I NEVER stayed at this motel…… but the experiences I had between the hotel and expedia were less than pleasing.
First…. I booked this place based off the reviews on expedia. Coincidentally, theres not one bad review for this place on Expedias website. Once I started doing my research, I found all of reviews here which made me contact Expedia to cancel my stay for July. Keep in mind it is February.
Expedia claim they tried to reach the motel but no one would answer so I had to legally give 72 hours for the hotel to respond. Fine whatever, I can wait.
48 hours later Expedia tells me they reached the person behind the front desk, but they cannot approve or deny the cancellation fee but they have told their manager about my request. (mind you the website for the hotel clear as day states no cancellation fee if cancelled before June 30th)
The next day I get an email from Expedia that the hotel declined my request for a full refund and they were still going to charge me for half of my stay….. so I called the hotel and I spoke to the person upfront. I recorded the phone call just so I had proof of whatever was said to me. I was clearly told by the front desk there is no cancellation fee and the manager had not even received an email from expedia. I then start a chat with Expedia and tell them this. Not even two hours later did I get another email from Expedia that the hotel still declined my full refund.
I went back and fourth with expedia and the hotel for over a week and recorded every call and took a screenshot of every conversation I had with expedia. The only person at the hotel I could get in touch with was the person behind the desk who claims they can’t do anything for me, but they’ll pass the information along to the management team. Then Expedia, claiming they reached out to the hotel, but they declined a full refund. This went on for a week! I even have a recording from an expedia rep saying its an expedia fee, but will call the hotel to see if they will agree to not charge the fee. Are you confused yet?
It sadly took a few TikTok videos of me exposing Expedia to finally get an email that I received a refund in full! Hopefully, I get my refund. Currently, I still have my claim open with my credit card company in the event I do not get a refund. I still do not know who is lying. The original Expedia refund email stated the hotel still declined my request for a full refund but expedia will make good on the booking and they are going to make a one time exception for me. Again, not even two hours later did I get another email from Expedia claiming the hotel has agreed to now give me a full refund.
The refund has still not hit as this was only yesterday. And I will be posting the exact same review on Expedia's reviews since I still can’t get an honest answer...
Read moreI recently had a highly disappointing experience with the Sunset Motel during my planned stay in July. Unfortunately, due to a power outage on the island, my reservation was canceled, and I was informed that all hotel stays were affected by this unforeseen circumstance.
Upon arrival at the hotel, the representative confirmed the cancellation of all bookings due to the power outage, citing liabilities associated with it. It has now been nearly two months since this incident, and despite my numerous attempts to reach out to every staff member possible, the hotel staff and owners have repeatedly refused to issue a refund for the two-day stay.
I was advised to contact a certain Mr. Hearst to request the refund, and I promptly sent him an email. However, I have yet to receive any response from him, which is deeply disappointing as a business owner myself. I have given them multiple chances to rectify the situation and return my money, but to no avail.
In my frustration, I even reached out to my bank, who informed me that they cannot process a refund until the funds are released by the Sunset Motel. Astonishingly, the management at the Sunset Motel has adamantly refused to release the funds, further adding to my exasperation and financial inconvenience.
As a responsible business owner, I genuinely dislike leaving negative reviews, understanding the challenges that arise in the industry. However, this situation has been unnecessarily prolonged, and it is with great reluctance that I feel compelled to take further action. I intend to escalate the matter to the Better Business Bureau and report this company on every possible website until they refund my money.
I sincerely hope that the management at Sunset Motel recognizes the importance of good customer service and takes immediate action to address this matter. It is my genuine belief that no customer should have to endure such a frustrating and prolonged experience.
Please note: This review is solely based on my personal experience, and I encourage others to take it into consideration when making their own decisions regarding the...
Read moreKrish was VERY pleasant and professional! He went out of his way to make you feel welcomed. He seems to always be there and stated that he doesn't sleep much. We felt very attended to.
But listen, you are not renting a room to stay inside and luxuriate with amenities, you're renting to drop your bags down and hit the beach! So in that regard do not expect luxury or even modern amenities for that matter.
What you pay for is the close proximity to the boardwalk and the ambience of Wildwood. But in their defense all of the hotels on the strip are that way (very old looking and feeling) so I was not disappointed.
To start, our room was very small and you hit the first of the two full size beds as soon as you opened the very worn and old front door. The main light switch to the room did not work as we entered so we turned on the lamp between the beds.
What we later found out was that the main light switch for the room was being used as a power source for the TV mounted on the wall in the corner (turn the light switch on then you'll have power to the television). Same with the air conditioner as there was another light switch being used to route power. Oh, did I mention the extension cords?
The main set of windows to the room had a large crack running diagonally down the pane and the frame itself was askew, but Krish alerted us to that before he gave us our key, so whatever.
The floors were grainy with perhaps sand or dirt, not sure which. The linens, towels and washclothes all had some sort of wash stain on them amd my wife requested a new set which was promptly provided!
Otherwise, the bathroom was very very small but there was great water pressure and the shower was hot.
Again, the idea for these hotels is to be super close to the boardwalk and beach so we didn't complain much at all. But we noticed!
The hotel succeeds in that regard but please do not expect anything more than a place to catnap and then keep it moving with your vacation...
