This family-run place is close to the convention center so it's a slight walk from the amusement parks, but my lunch was worth the walk. I got the cheesesteak and fries and my girlfriend got a calzone. The cheesesteak was satisfying. Stuffed with meat and had a good amount of cheese, too. I was, however, really impressed with how they made the calzone. I saw them making it with fresh dough and fresh mozzarella. When it came out, the cheese was really gooey. The calzone was perfectly cooked with a crisp outer crust and good fillings. It also wasn't overly greesy. It came with the chef's own homemade marinara sauce which tasted like it was made with all fresh ingredients. He checked in on us a couple of times to make sure we were satisfied and when we got our leftover calzone boxed up, he happily gave us an extra container of his homemade sauce. I wish I'd taken a picture of the calzone. The fries were also outstanding. They had a perfect crispness without being overcooked. That's exactly how I like my fries but few restaurants ever get perfectly right.
In terms of pricing, they are also VERY affordable. I've heard of other restaurants around the boardwalk price gouging, adding ridiculous hidden charges, and/or charging exorbitant prices for their food. I paid around $16 for my cheesesteak and fries. The cheesesteak was a good size and they didn't skimp on the meat.
I know it can be a walk from the boardwalk center, but if you're staying around the convention center area or near the Raging Waters waterpark, I would highly recommend grabbing a bite from Crazy Junky. This place is legit and I couldn't sing its praises more.
Update: Went back that same day to get an Arab dessert which was on their menu. I know nothing about it so I asked for a recommendation and they made me a fateer. Again, know absolutely nothing about it, so the chef actually spent some time to instruct me on how to eat it. I really loved it and will definitely get it the next time I'm...
Read moreI ordered a slice of white pizza with spinach and a slice of mushroom pizza on the evening of 07/03 via door dash...I sure do wish I would have taken a photo of what was actually delivered. On the DD site it states business will sub any out of stock with their selections ..thats cool I can accept that!! but whoever decided to swap that slice of white pizza w/spinach and send a slice of buffalo chicken in it's place ??? Really?? ( Being a vegetarian and allergic to spicy foods it was a total loss) And the slice of "mushroom" pizza was what seemed to be a plain slice of pizza ( which would have been a completely acceptable sub for the presumed out of stock white slice) with about 3 pieces of mushroom just thrown on top...not baked into the pie.....😒
I also ordered a side of fries.....the fries that were sent might as well have just been defrosted on a countertop or in a fridfe...and that is it...because they were not cooked ...at all....I was legit astonished because I thought well surely you can't mess up an order of fries...right?
And this was the meal I decided to enjoy and end my birthday with....that didn't make it such a happy birthday kinda meal so....
Now maybe it was close to closing time and they just slapped together whatever was sitting waiting to be thrown out but if that were the case then just cancel the order.. .I would have rather received a cancel notice through door dash than inedible food.....I didn't report it to door dash so I didn't go for a refund but I truly hope this was just a blip in what they...
Read moreIf I could give this place negative stars, I would. We ordered a cheesesteak, fries, and a cheese pizza all three were disasters. The fries tasted freezer-burned and dry, like they’d been sitting in a back freezer since last summer. The pizza wasn’t just soggy it was literally wet, dripping with some mystery moisture that made every bite worse than the last. But the real crown jewel of this trainwreck was the so-called “cheese.” What we were served looked and crunched like a slab of burnt grill scrapings, as if they scraped the flat top, slapped half a charred rock on bread, and had the nerve to call it food.
This isn’t just bad cooking, it’s inhuman treatment of paying customers. It’s insulting to the families trying to support boardwalk businesses and downright embarrassing for Wildwood to have this place representing its food scene. If the owners can’t figure out how to make a basic pizza, fries, or cheesesteak, then do the entire community a favor and shut it down so someone competent can take over the spot. There should honestly be laws against serving food like this — and yes, I’ll be looking into next steps.
Save your money, save your stomach, and walk right past this disgrace of...
