If you're in Wildwood, take caution when eating here!!
We loved coming here in the past during vacation as the food and service is always exceptional, but we will not be returning after this incident. There was a clear miscommunication when an order was being placed at my table. I work in the service industry, so l understand things happen. Somebody at my table got the wrong order brought out first, and then got the right order brought out, took a few bites, and expressed that she just didn't enjoy it. I tried to be the voice of reason so l took a bite of it as well and agreed that there was just no flavor to it. We asked for it to be taken back and for a replacement meal instead. The replacement meal was great and everything was fine until we got the check and saw we were charged for the meal that had 2 bites taken out of it. Now if we wouldāve cleared the plate and asked for that meal to be taken off our check then I agree that would just be wrong, but that is not what happened. I couldn't find our server after he dropped the bill so I went to the lady at the register and just tried to ask why we were charged for the meal and if it could be taken off when we didn't enjoy it and didn't eat it. She was then very hostile with me and told me that everything I was telling her was wrong and "that's not what the server said." | am probably the nicest person you could've come across in this kind of situation so when she was immediately aggressive with me l was very shocked. I've never been treated like that in a restaurant ever. She also expressed that two meals were ordered and that they can't waste the food. Correct, two meals were ordered but that was because we didn't enjoy the one that was initially ordered and didn't eat it so we asked for a replacement meal. It's not our fault that the food that was brought out the second time had no taste. If I'm paying for a service I should enjoy the food that I'm paying for. If you're taking an order and not sure on what the customer said you need to clarify so mistakes like this don't happen. I think a lot of people can agree with me that if you don't consume something, you shouldn't pay for it. The server was very nice to us but I immediately got a sour taste in my mouth after my interaction with the lady at the register and because of that we will not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFinal Update: Just to complete the overall experience. We did get to dine in one late morning. I get that you probably get the majority of your business from walk-ins, but you have a website! Menu prices are old! Wildwood is a place where out-of-towners go to and some do research first. Having misinformation doesn't help. We've been to plenty of diners that serve breakfast all day, but you did put on your menu that breakfast is served 8AM-1130AM. The issue was that the rest is only served after, and we only found out after we sat down - so much for finally trying out what we went there for - burgers and hotdogs. Breakfast was ok, great job on the hash brown (crispy), but the rye bread tasted a lot better from Olympic Flame. Sorry, back to 1 star - just too many cons vs pros.
Update: I wanted to clarify that when I say we waited, it was still 8am in the hotel on April 29. Since Google said 9AM, we left shortly after 9 to walk to the restaurant.
I changed it to 3 stars because the establishment cares enough to respond. Yes, we're sure we went to the right place. The rolling doors were down. If they were at least open, but the staff are not ready, it would've been fine. We even went to White Dolphin Restaurant, and they were closed too (so we figured maybe 2022 season is not quite open for everybody yet). We ate at Olympic Flame instead. I wish we had taken a pic with the time stamp since I'm sure you weren't open at the 9:00 that you said.
We wished we can experience it. Google says 9am, we waited. Checked out their website for hours, it says to check Google for hours. We went there 9:10AM,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent with my friends and my boyfriend and the food was delicious. However my boyfriend has a sensitive gluten allergy where cross contamination can be harmful to him. So when asking if there were gluten free options and if they can assure no cross contamination with the bread and the fries being made in a separate greaser they said there was no guarantee. So my boyfriend ordered the patty of a burger with pulled pork and cheese but we got charged for a whole burger. I asked why and the waiter said there was nothing they could do in their system to change it. When going to pay, I asked again. The girl at the front table said the same thing, apologized for the inconvenience and shut the conversation down. I proceeded to tell her how itās unacceptable that this diner has āgluten free optionsā but you canāt guarantee there will be no cross contamination. With the lack of action we got from this, we will not be...
