My dear long-distance college bestie and I arrived in this beach town road-trip road-trip hungry, when a sudden lightning storm shut down the boardwalk pizza parlors and sent everyone on the running. We drove in search of anyplace open and found the most beautiful spot: PlayaMexa. This family-owned restaurant fed us shrimp tacos and carne asada bowls and whipped up fresh guacamole twenty minutes before closing and gave us a birthday dinner a thousand times more delicious and personal than some surfside fish and chips would’ve been.
