My husband and I have been going to scandals for a long time and spending lots of money. We loved the old staff and knew many of them . We went there on Sunday for the first time after they reopened. As per usual, the parking is a rediculous valet only thing and I don't let anyone drive my vehicle, so I self parked. I was told that it was 5.00 as it always was. I paid it and parked. Going into the bar, they have upgraded the facility with tile and paint and window coverings that made it very dark. We went to the bar the get a drink, and none of the regular bartenders were there and the lines were very long and it took 12 minutes to get a drink, yes , I timed them. None of the bartenders seem to know what they were doing and come to find out , they aren't even trained to be one. Got talking to some friends and they were all griping about the service . I went to vince for another drink and he was on top of it as usual. I asked him if we still get money off for the valet ticket. He said no because it's free. Ummm, free I said, they just charged me 5.00 to park my own truck. He called over a manager and then a second one to tell my story, they took me outside and we eventually got the money back. New owners think that they need to make changes to an existing business, but in this case they have ruined this person's perspective. The fort Lauderdale crowd is very fickle and doesn't except much change and the people I talked with agree they made bad choices. They should have moved to location to begin with instead of going to an impossible location that will never change. I very much doubt that we will venture back there and from the sound of it , many others won't...
Read moreScandals has been one of our favorite 'watering holes' for years; however, since the new ownership with new management (thank you, Alex) has been in place now for over a year, the establishment has been transformed into an all around awesome venue for the LGBT (and allies) community! The outside patio bars, entertainment area, new tables, chairs, drink rails, TVs, sound system, lighting, and so on help set the stage for an awesome smorgasbord of events - contests, drag shows, country line dancing, musical performances, poker tournaments, comedy acts -- you name it! The drinks are very reasonably priced with many specials offered throughout the week. The staff is friendly and go out of their way to provide everyone a wonderful experience. It's a very laid back, non pretentious crowd of varied ages who mix and mingle - and welcome a chance to talk to out of town folks. The Sunday T-Dance is always a blast. Tuesday night's Voice of Scandals Contest has also been a huge success. If you haven't been to Scandals or have not been in awhile, please check it out - and tell them that Michael and...
Read moreIhad great memories here for it last day opening. Ken and Lloyd has been a god send to me. They are not just owner but family to me. When we lost Lloyd's my heart sadden me. We list a lot of friends and family but yet we as family stick together and comfort each other. I know the reason why Ken is closing this bar. Is because of our stupid political bs with the Oakland Park city again not being gay friendly towards business whos economy can even strengthen more. The people or the city's manager doesn't need growth in our gay patrons. Our gay patrons who brings money to support the economy of this city. Which discriminate gays business to open up open up because of a stupid technically of a bar kitchen to a kitchen bar really. Whar us the difference? Today we need to wonder why such prejudices still exist here. Tell me why Oakland Park City code enforcement is predominately prejudices t ok towards gay...
