There’s something visceral, almost primal, about good pizza. It’s comfort, rebellion, and community rolled into one greasy, perfect slice. And SoDough’s Detroit-style pizza? It’s a love letter to that ethos, unapologetically bold, rich, and addictive.
I ordered three offerings from their lineup: the Detroit Rob City, the Eastern Market, and their cheesy garlic bread. Let’s start with the Detroit Rob City. This was pure, unrestrained indulgence. The base—those caramelized edges of brick cheese where crust meets pan—was a masterclass in texture: crunchy, yet pillowy. Then there’s the lineup of toppings: the punch of the Detroit red sauce, the depth of pinched sausage, the crisp EZZO cup pepperoni, and the lush whipped ricotta, all perfectly balanced by the sweet heat of hot honey and fresh basil. This isn’t just a pizza; it’s an event.
Next, the Eastern Market. A vegetarian symphony, showcasing the savory brilliance of black olives, mushrooms, and green peppers, with red onions lending a hint of sharpness. The pecorino Romano added a salty, nutty undertone that tied it all together. Somehow, it felt both rustic and elevated, earthy yet refined.
Finally, the cheesy garlic bread. A thick, decadent slab of dough slathered in a tangy garlic parm sauce that hits you with a zesty bite. I’ll admit, the tang didn’t quite do it for me personally, but I still found it to be undeniably well-executed. If you’re into bold flavors with a sharp edge, this will likely be your thing.
SoDough doesn’t just make pizza; it crafts stories on dough. Each bite feels deliberate, with flavors that demand your attention. It’s not just a meal—it’s an experience, one you’ll want to relive...
Read morePretty good personal sized deep dish style pizza chain (i.e. not NY style). You can choose your own toppings, but they also have some interesting arrangements all ready to go. Pizza is cooked well and tasty if you like this style. They had a few bottled and drinks in plastic cups. Draft wasn't working when I was there. Staff was ok, not the friendliest; this is a "go order yourself and we'll bring it out" type a place. A little pricey for personal pizzas and bottle or can drinks if you ask me. Parking always sucks around here, but that's not their fault. It's one of the main reasons so many businesses have gone in and out in this plaza over the years. I've eaten at literally 4 different restaurants in this same location in the last 9 years. It's a place that could be great for college kids in theory. I suggest shaving a dollar or two off prices, emphasizing friendliness, comfortable atmosphere with board games and TVs, maybe small dishes for people hanging out, and specials targeting Rollins specifically. Maybe somebody giving out small free samples on Friday Saturday nights to passers by. That crowd keeps coming to All Fired Up next door, so they need to get them into this pizza joint. I wish them the best, but they'll have to work hard at that mission or they won't last more than 3...
Read moreOk so there is good AND bad. The good news is the food is good and the people are nice. But our experience wasn't great. And regarding the bad... For starters there's not really comfortable seating there. Little hard metal/ plastic stools . I prefer comfortable seating while eating dinner I also prefer a personable face to face interaction while I'm ordering my food and not on some kiosk or computer screen which is how you are required to order your food at this place. .. ALSO, in ordering my 9-year-olds food.. we explained that we had never been there before and she was very picky and wanted a very simple plain cheese pizza with dough sauce and cheese and nothing else because she likes her pizza very simple and plain. So when she gets her pizza it's made with the cheese on the bottom and the red sauce on the top 🙄🫤 seriously? After my big long explanation about how she likes her pizza very simple traditional and plain Do you think maybe the fact that you put the cheese on the bottom in the red sauce on the top of the cheese would have been worth mentioning? Even though I personally like the food... I probably won't come back for the...
