It takes alot for me to give a bad review. I just don't really give them and always give grace at restaurants because I find it a privilege to eat out even if I'm paying for it. Even though I don't like to wait just like everyone else for food, I will because I understand it takes time if you're busy. I'd give it 1 star but the food was actually good tonight. I would have left while ordering early but my son only wanted to come to this restaurant for his 16th birthday for weeks! Not a party but just a nice dinner. So I stayed against everything in me saying leave. The whole issue is the rude older guy that took our order (maybe the owner). He'll probably respond with excuses but he truly was rude. My husband and I split the chicken bacon ranch sandwich (delicious) but when ordering i asked about the "mild" sauce and if it was hot. Asked for him to put the sauce and ranch on the side and that's when i noticed he was irritated, thought because i questioned the ingredients. He continued to be snippy while taking our order. Then walked to the cook and yelled at him that there's no time for him to drink water, get to cooking. I'm surprised he even has that employee with how he talked to him. We then asked where we can sit, he said tables were reserved and to pick the very front or very back. We picked the back table that had 8 chairs even though there was 4 of us because the other one was right in front of the kitchen door and cleaning station. He came over and told us we couldn't sit there because he "might" need it for another party "if" they came in (which never did by the time we left by the way). We then moved to the very front where we all 4 faced the road instead of each other (this defeated the purpose of the family meal). He then came over and demanded we use coasters for our drinks on his tables. I ended up accidentally knocking over my water all over the table trying to cut my sandwich and felt really bad because he harped about the little condensation from our drinks on his table. The whole dinner experience was horrible and we'll never go back even though the food was good. Way too many nice restaurants in the area for similar quality food and price to put up the disrespect we experienced. Hope the owner sees this review and realizes he's losing customers because of his attitude. Probably won't though. Such a disappointment for my son's...
Read moreParking is located around the corner from Fairbanks and is for for 3 different establishments, including The Hen & Hog. The restaurant itself is a decent size with about 10 tables (which were all full during our visit). It seems there's room for more tables if they were reconfigured differently. We almost left as it didn't seem we were going to be able to sit inside but they found a table for us! You walk in and have to order at the counter as you can not order from your table. The menu board is to the right when you walk in and difficult to see while ordering. It would be nice to sit and review the menu prior to ordering, but that's not an option, and that's likely related to needing to turn the tables over more quickly. Anyway, we placed our orders, and the same guy taking the order brings out your food while instructing the cooks. We assumed this guy was the owner. We ordered the "Come Back Burger" and Fish and Chips (asked for crispy, and they were), and they were both good. The burger had a heavy dose of sauce on it that we weren't expecting (didn't take enough time to read thru the menu) and we would have preferred less of this sauce or perhaps had it on the side to distribute accordingly. It appears all the burgers are smash burgers. Honestly, we prefer a thicker, less well-done burger, so we wish more joints would offer clients the choice. We assume it's a regular burger that gets "smashed " while grilling, so why not offer the option? Anyway, the food was good and the fish was plump and fresh. There was a line and a wait the entire time after we got there, and while we were leaving, slightly before noon on a Sunday, so they appear to have found their niche in Winter Park. Next time, we'll make a reservation so we don't feel as rushed ordering and eating. The guy asked us if we had a reservation when we came in, so they must take them. One of the ladies sitting at the table next to ordered a Cuban Sandwich, which we totally overlooked on the menu, so we may come back to try that and something different in...
Read moreOkay so the food was absolutely awesome, my husband had the Cuban and I had the croquet madam and we shared a side of the pulled pork and we both had a whiskey smash (total $61). Upon walking in it is very well decorated but it is a small space. Order and sit kind of joint was a little frustrating that the brunch menu kept flashing the " cocktail" menu which was annoying, we were not the only people that took a picture of it or brought it up on line, in order to make our decision. Upon reaching the front to place our order we were immediately given the impression that the woman taking our order was new, this was not necessarily because of her behavior rather the man behind her. To be honest he is the reason for our three-star review we thought maybe he was just training her but seemed to be definitely "guiding" her through different steps. However the guidance seemed very forceful he definitely comes off as a micromanager I don't know if he was the manager or the owner but he definitely had the aura of it! Definitely would not want to be somebody training or working under him had a very aggressive undertone to everything he said maybe he woke up on the wrong side of the bed but you never went more than 5 minutes without hearing his voice very clearly throughout the entire restaurant, though it is not a very big restaurant and there is not a lot of seating. The thing that really got to us was that this was our anniversary brunch we decided to try somewhere new... And we kind of felt like we were eating at your Grandma's house as he brought our meal he kind of passive aggressively made note that we were not using coasters and asked us to do so. I also don't like that they market as if they sell cocktails but they only serve beer and wine not that that's an issue just don't market it as if it is actual spirits. All in all was a very good brunch other than the distracting and aggressive...
