Came here after seeing all the fantastic reviews and so happened I was craving Korean food. I have always liked traditional Korean food where you get rice + dish + multiple small side dishes. This is a modern take on Korean food in poke bowl style. The food was good and you can tell a lot of effort was put into preparing all the ingredients - no shortcuts taken. I had the pork and it was fatty pork belly, so I might try either the chicken or beef next time. My overall dining experience however was marred at the end when I had to take out some leftovers. There was no one at the counter and I spent 5 mins calling out towards the kitchen doors, but nobody came. I went back to sit, waited for a while and tried again. The lady came back out and handed me a styrofoam container from a stack on the counter. I placed my food in it, went back to the counter but the lady had disappeared. I tried calling out again, but no response yet again. I leaned over and noticed the plastic bags within reach behind the counter. Thinking not to pester the lady again, I helped myself to one. The bag was necessary as the food was “saucey” and would have leaked out of the styrofoam box in the car. The lady came dashing out and told me off for taking the plastic bag without asking. Taken aback by her stance, I apologised and explained myself - saying I felt bad that she had to keep getting interrupted from whatever she is doing in the kitchen, just because I needed something trivial like a plastic bag, and that even though the stack of styrofoam containers were on the counter, I had earlier waited for someone to hand me one instead of just helping myself to it. Despite my apology and explanation, and being embarrassed by the situation, she continued chiding me. This would definitely not have happened if she had offered me the plastic bag alongside the takeout container (which food establishments typically would do), or if there was a staff attending to the counter. Her stiff and inflexible personality behind that otherwise decent face made a blemish in my otherwise enjoyable weekend and...
Read moreUpdate: after a year of coming to Riccup regularly and having the same gentleman server, we recently came in and saw a new (to us) staff member. We ordered as normal, but while we were waiting we realized we weren’t asked for here or to go but our food always comes to go so we didn’t stress it. When our food was ready, we saw it was for here containers so we asked for to go containers. We figured we’d eat a couple bites and pack it up and leave. One of the chicken bowls had some sauce on the outside of it so when we picked it up it slipped out and flipped over, dropping all of the chicken. Us and the server kind of went back and forth after it fell and we said “we’ll just wait for a new one” and she started to clean up the spilled one. We sat down and ate some of our bowls and waited. Eventually we were ready to leave as we never intended to eat there, so I went to ask for the usual to go containers for the rice bowls and she told me those were only for to go orders. I then asked about the chicken, and she laughed and said “I was not the one who dropped it” and told us we were not getting a replacement. I understand, we dropped it, but it happened inside the restaurant, at the service station, before we even brought it back to our table. I don’t know any other restaurant that wouldn’t just immediately go make a new order of chicken no matter whose fault it is. We also pointed out that if the order had been made to go, then it wouldn’t have been a problem anyway. We asked for her to speak with someone about this as we really felt we should have gotten a replacement. She went to the back for some time and came back out without speaking to us. She served another customer and eventually announced our chicken was ready. We said thank you and she stared blankly back. The service we experienced today was completely different than the excellent service we typically experience.
Original: Great portion size for the price. DELICIOUS!! Friendly service. Took it to go and it was still hot with a runny egg after a 30...
Read moreWe recently tried the kimchi and it's pretty good too.
Update: My girlfriend and I went back and the bowls were just as good as before. The sauces from left to right are: k-chimichuri, ssamjang aioli, bibimbap sauce, k-chimichuri, yujajang dressing, and bibimbap sauce. Personally I liked the ssamjang aioli most with the k-chimichuri as my next. My girlfriend likes the yujajang dressing the most, but I found it a little sweet. We both got the Korean fried chicken, which has its own sauce on top. The bowls were delicious and hit the spot.
My girlfriend found Riccup online and discovered it had gluten free items so we decided to try it out. We both got the gluten free fried chicken and it tasted really good. My girlfriend said it was the best gluten free fried chicken she's had in a long time. We ordered different sides for our bowls so we could try the different gluten free options and she tried the bibimbap sauce and liked it but she really liked the ssamjang aioli, and she really liked the yujajang dressing. The k-chimichuri was good but a little oily and worked well on my bowl. I tried all the sauces too and the yujajang dressing was the sweetest. Parking is a little tight but it's on Fairbanks so we already knew parking might be difficult. All in all, we'll...
