My wife and I had dinner at Big Fish Grill. We were served reasonably quickly, although there was no one at the front desk to help when we got there, and no sign to wait for service. We were finally noticed by someone carrying a tub of dishes out of the kitchen. That's as good as it got. We both asked for steaks - maybe that was a mistake in the restaurant with the words, "Big Fish" in the name, but it was the first time there and steak sounded good. The cuts were supposedly Wagyu steaks; you should be able to cut them with your fork and the flavor should be superb. However, the steaks we received were both extremely tough and difficult to cut and chew, and the flavor, average. I suspect they were not Wagyu steaks, as advertised. I've truly had better meat from Safeway! Additionally, my wife likes her steak cooked well-done, and I prefer mine medium-well. I get it, many chefs do not like to "overcook" steak, but a well-done steak should not be nearly raw in the middle and a medium-well done steak should not be raw and bleed. We should have sent them back, but never make the chef/cook mad, you know. Along with this expensive main course you get a large tablespoon of mashed potatoes and a handful of steamed green vegetable - very unremarkable. The whole meal could have easily been accomplished by a short-order cook! And for a very high price. Plus, for the price you get service that requires you to request your check 15 minutes after your table has been cleared; and there were multiple waiters walking around just watching and helping people from time to time, so it's not as though they were understaffed. Bad service. Finally, I may be getting old, or at least middle aged, but nearly every other client there appeared to be well over thirty, if not fifty. The music was horrible! It was very sixteen-year-old techno pop! Same constant synthesized beat with synthesized... stuff, backing up unintelligible kid lyrics. Every song! At least it wasn't too loud to talk to each other. But, by the time my wife and I left, I wanted to stick the dull butter knives they called steak knives in my ears just to make the noise stop! Not sure what else can be said, other than, would...
Read moreWe went there for our anniversary dinner. We wanted to try something different and we wanted a semi "nice"place. The restaurant is nice. Nice atmosphere and the service was pretty good. The food was super disappointing! For appetizers We ordered the fried calamari and spinach artichoke dip with crab added and a bowl of clam chowder. The calamari was soft and very nice texture but way too much salt! But the spinach artichoke dip was lacking salt and flavor! The clam chowder was delicious! For dinner I decided to try something different and the black and blue halibut intrigued me. Huge mistake! It's a practically flavorless flaky white fish covered in an overpowering blueberry/blackberry sauce/compote or whatever. You can't even taste the fish! So when the waitress asked how I liked it I told her it wasn't very good and she asked if maybe I would like it better with the sauce on the side. I said ok I'll try that. So she brought it back and it was a little better. The fish had practically no flavor! The rice on the side tasted ok needed a bit more salt and seasoning but ate with the fish and it was pretty good. Did not eat the berry sauce! Just too strong! My husband ordered the fish tacos. The description is very misleading! The description describes warm tortillas filled with fish etc but when he got it the tortillas were actually like deep fried and it was really greasy and not very good! But he said the fish inside was actually pretty tasty but very disappointing that the tortillas were fried like that! It just seemed like the cooks chefs whatever didn't have a real good concept of their salt and flavor ratios. Some things too salty many needed more salt and flavor/seasoning! It was really just a super disappointing night as much money as we spent on our dinners and as bad and flavorless and expensive as they were! We will not...
Read moreA lot of reviews said the service is fantastic here....that wasn't the case for us. 4 of us went, and it was the first time for all 4. 2 of us were there early, seated right away (we had reservations thankfully) but it took 10 minutes before anyone stopped by our table, and when he did...he was short with me when I asked about happy hour. He stated happy hour is in the lounge only and you have to order before 6pm and that it ended already (it was 5:45pm). Our other 2 people arrived and it took forever for our server to stop by again. He took the drink order, but we wanted to order an appetizer with our drinks....he quickly walked away before we could order any food. As he passed by later, we stopped him to ask a question about an appetizer, he abruptly said 'yes' to the question and walked away without asking us if we wanted to order anything. The food was "okay". My jalapeno lime salmon was good, but my husband's halibut fish and chips was really dense and not flaky (the batter was good and not greasy though!). Our other party had the cod fish and chips and said theirs was greasy. The ceviche and crab cakes were pretty good, as was the bread that finally arrived at the table (much later than it should have). We went here because a lot of reviews said the food was decent and the service was great. We won't...
