Amazing experience. We have visited a number of great places in Tashkent and so far 1991 Cafe is on top of our list. We tend to exercise caution towards places that have expansive menu, it could be a sign of mediocrity in execution and quality of the dishes. However - this rule does not apply to 1991 Cafe. They indeed have an extensive set of options but everything we have been served was an outstanding quality and spot-on execution. High quality ingredients shine through the dishes and chefs pay attention to the details.
We tried staples of Uzbek cuisine - shurpa, somsa, dumgaza and beshbarmak - everything was super fresh and truly delicious.
Service was absolutely impeccable. After living 5 year in Dubai we are spoiled with the great service but here at 1991 Cafe our server Berdah went an extra mile and elevated our dining experience to unprecedented level, showcasing what heart warming oriental hospitality is. He was super attentive, knowledgeable about local culture and food. Berdah helped us to make the great choices from their menu.
If you are looking to savor great Uzbek food in a comfortable setting and enjoy great service - look no further - 1991 is the must place to visit during your stay in Tashkent. We would be coming...
Read moreUpscale cafe at walking distance from Amir Temur sq and Hotel Uzbekistan. The ambiance is super chic. They have a dedicated vegetarian menu, which was impressive, however all of the vegetarian-only foods are Lebanese and not Uzbek (there seems to be no concept of vegetarian Uzbek food overall in the country, so they can’t be faulted) But whatever we ordered was ridiculously good! Tasty, flavourful, and exceptional service by the staff (special shout out to Oleg) who went above and beyond to welcome us, ensure we felt comfortable, and offered complimentary breads/hummus/baba ganoush while we waited (quite a while) for our food. Despite the lack of English speaking staff, they did everything possible to help translate ingredients, & provide recommendations. The tea offered with local dry fruits was a refreshing combination. They serve sheesha/hookah & a wide range of Uzbek meats/kebabs/samsas/manti (all meat based though and/or have pre-added animal fat in them) we just enjoyed those visually from the menu card haha! But highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a spot for date night/a special occasion/good Lebanese vegetarian food! Try the falafel shawarma!!! Be ready to spend up to USD $20-30 for a...
Read moreOur last Ramadan iftar was booked at this Cafe 1991, so we taste local cuisine not Turkish )) The interior is amazing, I liked the design and the atmosphere and it is very beautiful inside. We were 7people on the 1st floor sitting on sofas. We had 3types of salads, soup, hot salad and an amazing looking steamed lamb. At the end we ordered some desserts and had some coffee. Total bill was around 280-290USD. Quite expensive… I liked everything, but there was a problem with lamb. Despite amazing look it didn’t have a good taste, it was nice, smooth, but no taste…What a waste of meat we all thought… We liked the desserts, especially the one that cost 20usd ) really light and delicious. Then we ordered Arabic and Moroccan coffee, actually it is the same coffee the only difference are the supplements they bring along with the coffee. As a result, we didn’t enjoy it much, perhaps we had no idea what the taste should be. The place is very popular among youth as they have a 2nd floor and something interesting was going on there as young people kept on...
